What does the average russian women look for in an American man?

I think that's because for the past twenty/thirty years Americans have been percieved by the world as "above average" when it comes to lifestyle. The first time I went to Moscow several people kept referring to me as "The Rich American" which I found to be quite funny. I would tell them I live a "normal, (for America) life." It didn't seem to satisfy them. I don't know if any other Americans have had that same experience but it gave me the impression that some nationalities percieved all Americans as being rich hence the need to qualify that I don't consider myself to be rich. So to me it is really a matter of Americans responding to how they may be percieved.

It is where you are living now.
Some people are in such a state of bliss that they don't even realize they are in prison.
They are ideal prisoners.

A prison is a place in which people are physically confined and deprived of free movement. You have to find another word to extend your thought. I would agree about the USSR though.

Russian women prison = a life without hope of equality; a life where they will always be a second class citizen and can only hope they are drop dead gorgeous for as long as possible and are able to somehow win the Russian lottery of having a husband without the typical societal ills (one who actually treats them like the typical man from the West) or who has the strength, courage and fortitude to deal with a husband who either cheats, beats or drinks way too much.    Unfortunately, all many a fine Russian woman can hope to achieve is life as one of the mistresses of a well to do Russian man.   Russian men just have it made in the short term, though I question the long term benefits of a society built on disparate inequality.   IT is simply amazing how any Russian man of quality just has woman after woman throwing themselves at him.
