I think the number of RW entering into the international dating market with the dominating purpose of getting GC is very small. The vast majority of them hope to find a satisfying and lasting relationship. Even GCGs and the women who enter into the international dating market looking for adventure can be “tamed” if you have an admirable personality that makes their hearts beating fast. Therefore, if I were a man looking for my future wife in Russia, the fear of GCGs would hardly occupy my mind. What I would be afraid of is getting married with an incompatible person because the probability of having your life ruined by a mediocre-looking woman (not a hottie) who entered into the marriage with good intention and then was disappointed is much higher than the probability of hooking up a GCG. So my advice is – stay away from incompatible women regardless of their age. The similarity in age is NOT reliable indicator of incompatibility; similarity in behaviors, values, and goals is what you should be looking for.

Aloe is right, if you are very handsome and in great shape you could attract women who are much younger and they can seriously fall in love with you if you have a great personality to go along with your looks.
If you are an average looking guy and look your age, I wouldn't go below 29 or 30. And do yourself a favor, don't look for 10s in terms of looks. 

It is also crucial whether you are making good money and can offer a very comfortable lifestyle or not. 20 y.o. hotties, if they marry a 45 y.o., are definitely not looking for the average 40k/year Joe Schmo

As far as  your question about women putting unrealistic age parameters in their profile, I agree with you that those ads are highly questionable and a probability of this being a real ad is pretty much zero IMO. I spend plenty of time on local Russian sites to see that a 25 year old girl will put her acceptable age parameters somewhere between 25 and 35 in most cases. occasionally you see one who will put it up to 40 but that's rare and I never see anything beyond that. I never used agencies but I have looked at them occasionally just to understand how they attract their clientele... I guess that's one of the ways - put a profile of a beautiful 25 year old girl up and have it state that she is open to men up to 50 y.o., if nothing else will, that will get them to sign up! I know that EM is highly regarded on this forum but I've seen profiles like that even there, which made me go "hmmmm".

The reality is that if a guy is very attractive and in great shape he CAN attract younger women if they meet somewhere casually, not on line (or on line if he doesn't disclose his true age). Typically because he doesn't look his age and the girls can't fathom him being 45 or 50.
But to see a girl's profile that would state that she is open to a man 18 to 80 is just ridiculous IMHO. It's not real. probably spam or scam.

1. Date women in your own proper. There's no substitute to marrying someone from your own culture.

2. If you have a fascination to marry outside of your culture and are further fascinated with a woman from the FSU, then I still suggest you date one/some, then marry one already living in your own city/county/state/country.

3. Keep in mind that once you embark upon the idea of dating outside your country's borders with the intent of bringing her to your home, then be very aware there's a multitude of inherent risks that you are automatically taking in. There's no avoiding that.

Yet whenever the same discussion centers around RW, there is usually very little or zero acknowledgment that there are huge differences in cultural influences, in short and long-term goals, etc. between women at 20 and women at 40 -- most guys seem to consider only whether 20ish women are "ready" for marriage and gloss over the maturity thing by foolishly assuming that growing up amid instability and poverty has somehow made her wise beyond her years.

The cultural difference will be a focal segment of your marriage with a woman coming from another culture/country. The older they are, the more set they are in their ways. That being the case, the harder it will be for them to assimilate. That becomes a little tougher too if they have kids, which by ratio, there's a greater likelihood an older woman already having  their own child/ren. Younger women OTOH, will likely assimilate fairly easier, which may also readily make her realize and notice the younger stud muffins around are much more appealing than you.

For someone who has been using Russian personal sites for their clients while you were still married to your American wife I know this is not correct. I have seen MANY women of 25 from many Russian personal sites seeking men over 40.

No, Ed, it is not about the site but about having your own head on your own shoulders. The dating sites of Mamba system including real-ukraine-girls are not marriage agencies or marriage websites, those websites are just dating websites for different dating purposes.
