There's nothing wrong with it.. From what you have revealed, America has been good to you, so it's only natural that you like it as your new home. However, I also sense a lot of resentment towards your former home, which makes your perspective is a bit skewed.. You're saying AM don't cheat (as much) and make better husbands, boyfriends, etc.. But having been with only one AM, can you really compare all of them to all Russian men? That is unless there is something in your biography I'm not aware of, like a bad relationship or two on American soil..

I can agree that I have much less data on AM than I have on RM. I lived in Russia for 27 years and only about 3, 5 years in America, I had much wider network of acquaintances who confessed in me in Russia and I worked there. So I had more opportunity to see the dirt there. Maybe in 20 years my opinion of AM will be that they are the same as RM, who knows. However so far, analyzing all the available date, I tend to believe that AM are more admirable.

As several have mentioned, my sense was that this was far more common in the FSU than in the US. Also, as Chicagoguy commented, there seem to be fewer consequences for the guy but I would add about as many for the woman. That would seem to support a general statement that infidelity is more common in the FSU than in the US.

I've been and lived places in the US where I could not believe the height of infidelity. I mean literally every where and with at times seemingly everyone, men and women. Places that would put these stories we're hearing about Russia to shame. Other places where if there was any at all, it was well hidden and hushed. I think it's perception Ed. As many times as I have been to Russia I can't make heads nor tails out of the inner intimate social scene and thus see "none". In the US just about every where I've spent significant amount of time I generally pick up on it pretty fast. Seems to me IMHO it's all individual perception.

It would be very interesting if there were a Kinsey or some other report just for curiosity sakes. Unlikely I suppose.

I was seduced by a Russian "cougar" at the tender age of 17 (I think I was 17 at the time). At that time she was 28, married with a child and lived in my apartment building... I had fantasies about her since I was about 12...she was stunningly sexy, unbelievable looking. It takes two to tango.  If most married RM cheat (as many people claim), who is the other woman? 
 
The "other" RW would be a 1)  prostitute, 2) student/young RW needing a sponsor, 3) single RW or 4) married RW.  Are there enough of 1) and 2) to take care of "most" married RM?   Is the number of 3) greater than the number of 4)?  If the answer is "no" and "no", it follows that the married RW is also cheating.

I have only anecdotal info.  Several UM/RM have told me that married RW/UW have extra lovers in the same magnitude as the men do.

In two instances, two different gals I was involved with suggested to me that a female colleague  of mine seemed to have some extra interest in me.  When I said: "Don't worry she is  married,"  they replied to  me: "So what? . . . that makes no difference here."

What you say is true . . . but there is more to the story.

The rest of the story involves acceptability or at least acceptance.
This  is where there is substantial differences in different cultures.

The desire  for sex may be the same around the world, but the social barriers to it outside of marriage differ around the world; hence there are many more unfulfilled desires in some cultures than in others.

I had a 63 year old guy recently tell me he spent about 100K on his Ukrainian fiancee. She lasted about three weeks with him once she got here. She was 42 but looked 27 (really!). She's now back in Ukraine from what I understand. IMO there was this age issue with the both of them. He wanted a younger woman to recharge his life and she preferred younger men as it was easy to see she could attract them easily. Any woman who works so hard to maintain her youth by diet, exercise, cosmetic surgery and dress may have an eternal youth complex. The men are less complex IMO. They just want a young babe or one that looks like one. This is so apparent that even a blind man can see it. It's what fuels this whole MOB industry.
