Napolean's "other Army" were the widows and orphans of his soldiers
I'm guessing the Russian word for soldier, was a borrowed word from French
like Mayonaisse, and not from some Indo-European root word

whatever yo do in Thailand, don't engage in narco-trafficking and don't insult the king
i'm not sure how yur gonna deal with Thai language...especially reading...
Thai gem market is overpriced for tourists...take the train to Ho Chi Minh City
there are still Catholic schools in Vietnam that speak/teach French who welcome "guests"

I have a lot of Asian food addictions
i'm addicted to Vietnamese mint rolls and japanese baby pickled octopus
them's GOOD EATIN
Thai food puts a lotta spicy peppers in it, you can ask restraunts for non-spicey entrees, if that's a problem
i'm not a fan of red hot chilli peppers, except for "Californication"

there's no way her EX-husband  could be a "thief-in-law" without his wife knowing
he'd have a "legitimate business" and another NOT so legitimate

there's a lot of risk involved in what yur doin
1,000 ways this plan could fall apart
cuz all of it is out of yur control
you are on a sail boat, at the mercy of the wind and tide

no one's been down this path before...yur on yur own mate
just glad yur not thinkin about Russia
there used to be a big American airbase on the border with Vietnam
I spent a year there in the US Army, I didn't interact much with locals
my first jungle experience, I hated all the fungus smelling stuff in monsoon season
when you launder cotton clothes, ya gotta get them completely dry or fungus will grow on yur clothes and then you'll be the fungus smell wherever yo go
after you shave, splash some high-alchohol content after-shave on yur face
to avoid a fungus infection in all the razor 'nicks'
I had an outdoor table to enjoy my fine daily lunch ration
had to put each table leg into a small bowl of water, to stop the bugs from crawling up

good times...
now I'd be prospecting for rubies and sapphires

if you leave the coast, you need to take anti-malaria tablets
no idea what they are today, US Army gave 2 tablets we called "C&P pills"
they used to sell these in shops and were inexpensive...don't know about today...
Chloroquine phosphate was "the C", which is good for other parasites as well as malaria
make sure all yur tropical disease vax are up to date

it really sucks to be with some girl yur trying to impress, and ya get dysentary and yur like an inverted volcano spewing massive amounts of Brown lava with noxious gases
talk about "mood killing" moment
turnin yur toilette into Pompeii will do it

and dysentary is the least of the diseases there
avoid antibiotics there if ya can, it'll ultimately make things worse

Go with Filipino gal
« Reply #1976 on: March 15, 2025, 07:05:05 AM »
Pat, if you are willing to live in that part of the country and you are 177 cm or less, you should seriously consider a Filipino gal.

They are different from others in the region in that they don't have the oriental mind set, they are Christian, and they are much happier than others in the region.

Much more like western mind set due to the long close association with USA and most all are fluent in English and high percentage of college degrees.

Extremenly loving gals who let the man be a man.

I spent time with those gals back during my late teenage years when I was in USNavy.

I would have gone that route starting 25 years ago except too hard to find tall enough gal for guys greater than 177 cm tall.

- - - - -

Note:  I may have mentioned before that (when our aircraft carrier docked in Philippines) my fellow Filipina US navy men set me up with the tallest Filipino gal they could find; she was around 5' 6" compared to most others who were around 5' 2".  She was probably only 17-19 (as was I) or so and just getting started as a hooker probably.  Good looking, slender, very caring, very happy to be with me.

Much more caring and happy than the Japanese and Chinese women I spent time with.

After a few days, I was ready to marry her . . . but the Filipina guys pulled me away and . . . set me straight.

But I still think about her over the years.

Funny I know very tall white men with a tiny asian wives to the point I think maybe it’s a fetish 😁
Asian women I know stay very young looking for a very long time and are naturally skiny
When my husband was a teen he said his teenage friends often tried to hit on his mom thinking she is his sister

Looks like our daughter has inherited the skinny asian gene as even now she is only 110 pounds at 5’ 7”.Us European women have to work much harder to maintain weight

Their relationships are not as transactional, divorce is not part of their culture. They are mostly Christian, so they
have a better value system than many other Asians. I am just way too freaking tall for a 5-2 woman. I've dated
plenty of shorties, they can be really fun but not a forever plan (for me).

asian women are more likely to have a characteristic called "neoteny"
which MEN generally prefer
compared to the caucasian persuation

but the 'juvenile features' also extend to mammaries
trade-off there

the philipinas I met, were, as BEEL has noticed, easier to engage with relative to Chinese women, very 'personable' and friendly, cuz being coy and bitchy doesn't work there
tagnlog even has some English, so you can get some of it, but there's a lot of English fluency there
the US  Army taught me to fear Asian Women, and I haven't completely deprogrammed myself from that
so I never went down that avenue
Russian women all wanted to keep me warm at night
and I do like to be warm

Yep that a true characteristic of the Asian race, you cannot really give them an age.

We are barking the right tree this time  :P

Everybody bothers here about the final destination I should land while I mainly focus on the travel.

The tourist visa for French is two months now, three for Russians.
Thailand helps certain category of people to retrieve longer visas because this country makes tons of money from expats.
There are huge communities of Frenchies and I observed that there is huge Russian community now, in Phuket for what I have seen.
Sport, massages, good meals, sea, hot weather, very kind people, life is not expensive. Tons of people come here to visit or to stay. Many men, already older, are having locals as girlfriends or spouses.
So during the winter, rather than to freeze your ass in Europe or in North America you'd better go there for example.
If you want a cheeseburger I could give you some address.
For the flying time you need 24 hours from my country yes. That's huge but not impossible.

You should look the visas, I am sure there is a box you can fit Krim, I mean for a long stay.

So look, stage 3, two weeks in France, then stage 4 two months at least in her country (Not Russia) whatever happens. Stage 5 don't know yet Krim.
That's the travel, the principle is you go from a point A to a point B, to a stage 4 to a stage 6,  it has never been said that you are creampied to a place.

She gave me the whole full copy of her passport: I know now a little more why she choose me.  That was written in my ad: I like to live between two or three countries.

Why everyone here want riveting me in a box?
Krim why do you stay in USA now? Vietnam of your military service is not there anymore.
Are you travelling Krim?

I didn't know what you wanted to become...

now I know that you want to be "Le Français Errant
d'aacord..i've heard of "something like that"
now I see...

naturellement, this is not a country for me
the lion in winter
wants to sleep by the fire in the den

I'm slowly convincing my wife to permanently leave the comforts of America...
we've tried a few experiments
I tend to avoid all the places "I've worked in",
becuz it has a "return to the scene of the crime" paranoic feel to it
i'm getting my wife used to Latin culture
also, if/when Ukraine "winds down" I'm planning on buying a property that borders Hungary and making something like what yo're doing
and anticipating it might end up belonging to Hungary one day, and "Ukrainians" can become EU citizens
and I can go buy a place in Amsterdam and live there
and be a street performance artist with a trained monkey who dances while I play the accordion
and we both wear sailor uniforms
so yur dream ain't as weird as mine

what yur doing has rarely been achieved except by a few sailors from Marsailles
a woman in every port, 2 cars in the garage, and a chicken in the oven

I SALUTE YOU SIR!!!
if you are able to achieve this
or if you die trying!!! at least you will not perish from boredom

you follow the beat of a different drummer
you are (a) papillon
the wind is yur destiny

bon chance
bon voyage

i'm guessing yur "femme russe" is blonde, non?
http://youtu.be/XT9IDo-vF5k

for me it Was "Russia House"

Sorry way too hot and humid for our taste :( otherwise yes it's great but I can not stand anything over 85 degrees (30 C) with high humidity. Neither can my husband even though genetically he is half thai but he won't even live anywhere east of rockies because of hot humid summers.

DRY heat is OK :)

thailand interior is brutally hot and humid during and after monsoon...
not as bad along the coast, where I imagine Pat will stay

it's kinda like Cancun or Hawaii
you can strip down to shorts and walk around...and it's fine there...none of that, "no shoes no shirt no service"
Thai beaches are 5 star

I have no idea what it's like today
in my time, Bangkok was a dump
you smelled it before the airport bus even got there
a weird smell of sewage mixed with something that smelled like baked beans... NO it wasn't me!!!!!

my wife and I married on a beach in Maui...love it there...
cancun is also nice...we have a place in Costa Rica...3+ hour flight from here...and that's where we go
I made a connection with the local tiny Jewish community there, doctors and lawyers...
I also met an Indian Banker who lived there with his Russian wife and we became great friends!!!
Covid was handled much better there than in the USA

medical care is close to US standards and easy to get there and inexpensive
health care is not really a major worry there, if you can make it to the capital San Jose, and not die of snake bite in the jungle
it's the only country in central America not having a Narco War

Russians are arms dealers in other latin countries, and are given protection from narco cartels
i've met tons of these Russian kalishnikov malchiky in Honduras and Mexico
tryin to score $$$ for mother Russia's sanction busting
by selling russian weapons and buying American computer hardware

Don't even start me on medical care in US after what I am going through with my dad at Stanford Hospital (supposedly top 10 in US) my husband and I pretty much decided to fly to Singapore , Thailand or somewhere else if something serious were to happen to one of us. I am very disappointed in US healthcare right now.

I mean they lost his biopsy results and I had to email them to Stanford, they just today couldn't find his ultrasound result that they ordered, and I had to email it to them (I dowloaded both from THEIR portal)

Then They wanted to discharge my dad with heart failure tomorrow and for last 4 days haven't treated the heart failure at all and stopped his heart medications for the reason they couldn't explain. They never call to consult me even though I have advanced heath directive on file. And so on

Only with a help of my beautiful Russian surgeon friend Milana in th Bay Area I was able to get them to keep him hospitalized and do something about his heart.

I totally agree...US health care sucks...
and is gonna get MUCH worse...

the only thing I like about US hospitals is pharmaceutical grade morphine

in Ukraine, I lived near a licensed Opium Poppy grower!!!
I was a midnight harvester...they even had guards...

In the daytime, I could also buy dried opium pods from them, dissolve it in grapefruit juice overnight
evaporate it then eat the resin, and I'd be high as a kite all day

you used to be able to buy a tube of 30 mg codeine/500 mg Acetaminophen tablets for like $3 in Ukraine
do a cold water extraction to get rid of the Acetaminophen, and ya got pure codeine left over
another way to get high as a kite in Russia

necessity is the mother of all great inventions and ideas
drugs are OK, as long as yur still "high functioning"

drugs are like oil
use just a little to lubricate
not too much, or it'll get "all over" everything

I think the availability might have changed recently anyways with opioid epidemic going on?
This reminds me when my grandma was dying here in US several years ago. She lived to 103 (!)
in clear mind but last year she had a lot of pain. My mom had a friend who is some sort of a naturopath.
And when my grandma was prescribed opioids for pain, my mom's friend convinced my mom that it's very
bad for You and addictive. I mean come on! The woman is 103! She can have anything she wants even if it's
bad or addictive! I had to interfere and let grandma have all the drugs she wants! Still mad at my mom about this!

I always wanted to grow my own papivar somniferum...

nowadays in the USA, THC is easy to acquire
so that's the only self-prescribed medication I take
plus the VA prescribed all kinds of anti-depressants, etc for me
which together reduces my "rage outbursts" to a manageable level

costa rica weather isn't bad along the coast
don't get nearly as many major storms as Florida

I like Singapore, lot of English speakers...
since Covid, I don't like flying long distances...
now with Musk purging the FAA....

tried Cruise ship travel but didn't like it either
eaither way still beats the sail ships my ancestors had!!!

beam me up Scotty

I also hated flying long istance until we started flying business class, now I don't even feel it and can sleep on long flights.
My mom bought me a first business class ticket on Air France to get me to go with her to Portugal
and I could never go back :)

Also going to Antarctica cruise Jan 2026 and Alaska cruise this May from Buenos Aires.
The business class tickets to Buenos Aires were about 5500 each even from Reno with 1 stop in Houston
Some places one can only visit via cruise

i'm too cheap to pay that on my own
and I'm not in business any more to write off expenses
OTOH, I also don't have children to take along now, so that cuts my price in half
my wife usually takes her credit card points as air fare
and that's how she plans our trips to costa rica

i'm just along for the ride
I hardly have to do anything...
she's a big strapping Russian woman, who can handle all the luggage on her own and do the automatic check-in while I'm in the book store looking at magazines
I have all the women in my family well trained
so that I can live the life of a Southern Gentleman
freshly starched and ironed shirts...breakfast and coffee served on the patio in the morning with the morning newspaper
