Irishka friended me. I hid her friendship from view (only she could see it.)  I typically do that with my female friends because my profile isn't my real profile, like FB, it's just an entry to VK. So, if I contact a girl I meet on another site, I don't want her to see my page with 20 female friends and a couple of guys. And after I see what some of you do with my personal info, I'm glad I did that.

Can you explain the steps involved in "hiding" a friend on VK?Step by step would be good.

I simply specifically  block the unwanted and they disappear from any list and cannot follow you at all.
Thx for info--I will look closer and see-- got to say it is new to me to be able to 'hide"  a  specific profile  and allow others to be visible.

I am marvelling at the sudden seemingly planned disappearance of Steveboy  -- the arrival of Stefan in Chips  VK friends -- now the arrival of Irish  !!

YES Carolyn, the guy is/was engaged. March 2013. It was supposed to be a big deal with local papers covering the silly story. According to him, they broke off the engagement after 30 days (technically based on his assertion they broke up 6 months ago) and being it's October now, my math tells me one month. His math tells him 60 days.

He was supposed to be dating the gal 6 months before asking her for her hand in marriage. But the funny thing is, the day Chip asked for the engagement, the gal was coming back from a 75-day tour duty offshore. LOL. When asked if this was enough time to get engaged with someone, Chip responded to the reporter...p/p "You just know when it's right!"

The plot is thicker than the stuff going on in Florida these days apparently. SO now, allegedly, Chip is involved with a Ukrainian woman who he's trying to lay in the Caribbean (please no lecture).

The engagement stories are in public domain. Chip believes it is private information but silly enough to invite local news media to publish the story, LOL. Go figure...so he asked that the link to the stories be buried in the section away from general viewing and also to make sure none of the folks back in Washington would be able to accidentally Google search his present activities here.

As for JayH's recent investigative obsession pertaining to Irishka/Stefan...there's a thread where Stefan did in fact raised concerns about newbies being ran off because of the way they appear to be treated around here, so in essence he was trying to protect new members. The curious thing however is, coincidentally, Stefan did in fact used this thread's link to exemplify that very point.

Anyhow...you can Google a lot of these stuff if you wish as they are publically available. Or you can simply ask and I'm sure you'll be provided the proper links. Otherwise, since you're already a member, you can search in the 'Anything Goes' section. The links are all in there.

I got more curious when Ooooops starting asking questions and answers did not seem to make any sense to me.As for googling members here -I will leave that to the truly obsessive  stalkers and trolls that pollute the forums.

Well, as you have already seen, the ******* of the group has way more passion for the story than seems to be natural. He's the one who started it all by googling my name and finding the news of the engagement. No big deal there, because contrary to what many have intimated, I have no problem with anybody knowing about it. Why my stalker had to assume the worst of me and post lies about me still baffles me. So, please, pay no attention to his continuing elucidations and allow me clear things up.

We did date for 6 months, she was deployed on a Coast Guard cutter and we did get engaged in a very public way upon her arrival back in port. The Coast Guard loved the story, and they had most of the news on it, but it also made our local news in Seattle. And it ended 2 months later for intensely personal and private reasons. And for all who "worry" about me moving on too quickly, I still have not moved on. I started poking around on the web a couple months after we broke up, including this group, to see what was out there. No dating. It took me months to get back to normal and I don't believe in starting a new relationship until the old one heals.

I never said "intrusion". I mentioned what one ******* did with my personal information. I never said private information. Obviously I didn't care if you all knew my real name. And I certainly never tried to hide my engagement.

I am just talking in a general sense here...

One thing that I have noticed about those public marriage proposals that you sometimes see on the evening news, is that the gal never turns down the proposal. Maybe under normal circumstances the gal would have refused the proposal, but doesn't want to humiliate the guy on TV so she plays along and accepts the proposal with the intention of breaking off the engagement later on.

Don't be misled by the 'Online' count as that is strictly based on weight by volume and not by head count. It just 'seems' like there's a lot of people online. Remember, this is the MOB. The normal weighted guys are vastly *outweighed* by the not-so-normal guys. So the reality is, there's 6 members online, 11 guests...and the rest are made up of 100 obese *lurkers* - bwalla! 1193 Online!

VK is full of crap and false profiles, many people are just having fun there, bragging, showing off...

Same can be said of facebook. Some use it for legitimate purposes, other for fun, and other are just plain narcissistic.  So........weirdo's, business people and kids who play.

Truth be known VK IS lately being promoted as a site to "meet someone" but I see no need..... I just use it to play and  and post fun pictures and hassle a few friends.

That's true. What usually happens on facebook is that people accumulate hundreds of friends who are actually little more than acquaintances. In the course of reading about their strange world views, one becomes very thankful that they are only acquaintances.

People who have thousand of friends on FB are usually in the business of selling something, so FB is nothing more but free advertisement for them.   Or they are teenagers who are still living in the world of "being popular = being happy"
