Thank you for your "insights", Carnak

As I have absolutely no idea what "Carnak" refers to I did a google, then google images. Perhaps appropriately one of the top images that was returned was this;

For clarification, are you trying to suggest that Ken is overweight, antisocial and a workaholic type or is this a description of your own physiotype and personality?  :-\ I assume you meant the former, but grammatically the latter is also feasible. It goes without saying that I do not want to erroneously assume anything  >:D

Let your imagination do a waltz if you want there Misha but, for some reason, I never assumed Ken was antisocial and, although he probably fits into the workaholic category or at least used to being as many business owners are by necessity, it also wasn't directed at him. He's obviously overweight though. Nice catch.

Misha, you can safely assume Ade's purpose here is to incite and provoke. Other than that he contributes little here.

I ask in all honesty - don't you get tired of all the bs and sugar coating, the lies and obfustication, the blatant self congratulation and bragging. Which, it turns out as often as not it seems, to be based on bollocks and fantasy; perhaps attempts at bolstering their egos by pandering to the fantasies of a bunch of internet strangers. Or do you just not see it, perhaps choose not to see it?

Hello gentleman:

I think my question leans more towards the older men like KenC, Gator, Turboguy, I'm sure there are others but cant recall the ones with children from previous marriage.

The question is about your "assets" or "net worth" at death and your older children and immigrant wife. In the case you pass before your wife how do you manage the issue with money and assets with your children and surviving wife?

I do know when I die I want my children to have some of what I accumulated but if married to a foreign woman later in life would this not be all hers after your death? Do you have agreement? How do you deal with this?

Ken it's nice to see you back. Hopefully you have mellowed somewhat. I have too except with a few snapperheads here from time to time.  I like the old adage that if you wouldn't say it to their face don't type it here.

This the the 'million dollar question,'  particularly for those who have a million dollars.

But note that is is not just a 'foreign woman' but 'any woman or man' that might have a claim to your assets, along with your children from any previous relationships and perhaps even your parents and siblings.

It is a very thorny and emotional issue that has been discussed here in many previous threads . . . under the general concept of 'pre-nuptial' agreements . . . not to mention standard wills, etc.

Easiest and most worry free route is not to have much in the way of assets.  Also allows you to proclaim your saintliness and sound very indignant toward those who talk about such things as pre-nups.

Well, one option is to ship her back to where she came from just before you die and tell her her services are no longer required.

The man KenC, has a good story to tell, and I'm interested in hearing it from his perspective, your commentary has done nothing but create pointless static, and possibly discourage others from telling their stories.  If you find that you are unhappy with your own choices and circumstances then a more productive outlet would be to deal with those issues rather than project unhappiness onto others.

I think this is a great topic...I have prior children, and children from my current spouse....I'm not too old but we don't know when our number might be called... Although i've never spoke to my wife about this subject, If i were to die, I'd like to see the assets dived out fairly, with my prior children getting around 60% and my current wife receiving about 40%.  I have a few assets in the children's name already.

I'm curious to hear what some of the older men, that are at greater risk have done, if anything to insure that their assets are dived up the way they would like.

Poker,
Your questions can be answered with a prenupt, will and trusts.  It is my belief that should a man marry a woman significantly younger than himself; he should provide for her after his death.  Life insurance, a business or inheritance could all provide for this.  Whatever you want to leave to your kids can be covered by a Trust.  Consult a lawyer for these.
I am fortunate that my son and daughter are rather successful in their own careers and not in any need of my support.  What I have done is to give my kids some valuable art pieces that I know they admired for them to enjoy while I am alive.  I do get a kick out of seeing how they proudly display them in their homes.

Billy,
You didn't miss an announcement as there was none.  I have not posted in the general forum for some time.  Congrats to you too.  Glad this thread was started because I didn't want to sidetrack your other thread.

I am not sure that all RWD members understand KenC's background.  If not a pioneer in marrying a RW, he was in the early wave.

I first encountered Ken over 11 years ago on another forum.  He had already married.   In those days, meeting RW was much different.  The unknowns were greater, and the resources smaller.

Men needed more personal advice then than today.  Ken wrote with great passion, taking the time to answer questions, never shy about speaking up when he felt a man was making a mistake.  Although not sugar coated, he usually gave constructive  advice.  I found his advice pragmatic and insightful, and I read his every word.

Ken helped me immensely.    When he asked me what was happening, I gladly responded.

I believe he is essentially a "founding member" of RWD.   Incidentally, KenC's forefathers were Russian.

So, Father Time, what if we aren't the older group?

My assets are split between two trusts.  I have a remainder trust coupled with a life insurance policy for my children.  My other trust is for any future family I might have.  I have key person insurance on myself through one of my companies.   My ex wife is actually minority owner in one of my companies and draws income from it monthly.  I have never needed to pay alimony as she brings home as much as she wants based on the work she puts in.

I tried to structure things so that there was a watershed which separated my former marriage from where I am now, with a home and the ability to move forward in a relationship that may or may not involve future children, but protecting my former children and ex wife so that they were secure in their own future.

Perhaps, but with one glaring difference - that's never been my purpose on RWD.

Gator,
I did push Dan to start this site and recruited members from other sites to come here.  Got to know Dan on the old Planet Love site.  First trip to Russia was for 98 New Years,  It was a whole different ball game back then. (No Skype, none of the women had email, no phone cards, no one with experience to talk with........) Damn I'm old :wallbash: Thank God for Turbo!  That ol Geezer was getting Cherry Blossum mail order catalogs delivered via Pony Express.

I remember buying rubles from a man in a black overcoat on a sidewalk.

We were sitting on the couch watching tv when VWRW started looking at the computer and all of a sudden burst out laughing.  It was your post she was reading.

Yep, that does make me feel old.  When you were making your first trip I probably had 5 under my belt and the first being about 5 years before.  It was actually getting pretty easy when you made your first trip.   I think my first trip was '93 and I think I got my first letter from a RW around '92 and yes, that was through cherry blossoms.  Later I used Club Prima and Latin Euro Introductions.

You did however beat me to RWD by a whole 2 days and a few hours.
