I have no idea how you could believe such rubbish.  Of course most people liberal or conservative want violent criminals completely out of circulation.  It may become an issue of money spent on incarnation, more than anything, and I don't know if that is a liberal or conservative problem.   We should have enough prisons for violent offenders, and let some of the relatively harmless drug offenders house themselves somewhere else.

More cognitive dissonance...  this was just a 1 second search.  I could add article after article if I wanted to spend more time.

Under Obama we didn't have any major attacks on the home turf, so something has been working on that level.  If Trump wants to improve security, I'm for it of course, the way he is going about it appears to be about something else though.  Clearly leaving major terrorist hubs off his list says something.

You should have married her.  :D

The problem with H1Bs is simple. Most of them have fake resumes with fake experience. They do not bring skills into America we don't have. I can wipe the floor with them. The system has been abused. The current minimum wage for them is $60K. How can experienced Americans compete with that? They are raising that bar now to $130K minimum for H1Bs. At least that is the proposal. Will employers now continue recruiting them over Americans? I don't think so. Moreover the proposal says 20% of the 85K per year are going to be reserved for small companies.

I don't like anything that puts my fellow Americans out of work, even if they are  insufferable Libs.  ;D

To be perfectly honest with you, wallm, while that may impact H1Bs, I don't believe it will have the same effect you hope it will be in the long run. The reason is because incoming student admissions (India/China et al) *trumps* H1Bs acceptance. These graduates get hired even before they leave our colleges and files status admission adjustments.

I'm sure you are aware of this.

Still 130 an hour is a huge burden on companies, 8 hours in a workday is over $1000 a day.  If they are to compete worldwide, that may be too much to pay.

Keep them in India at 1k per month salary. That's what most are worth and they can work remote.

That story doesn't prove your point. If I read it correctly it shows some problems with our criminal justice system.  Cognitive dissidence, is where an individual has difficulty with two contradictory beliefs, I don't see how that applies here either.   Very clearly, individuals that commit violent crimes should be punished severely, most Conservatives and Liberals agree on that.  Fringes of groups don't matter much, and that is why I think you are using a strawman when you state Liberals approve of violent criminals being let loose to create more mayhem.  Very few people approval of such a destructive thing.

Before someone is daft enough to say the UK's Daily Telegraph is a 'liberal ' / left wing paper - do check

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/01/30/president-donald-trump-smashes-record-get-fastest-majority-disapproval/

President Donald Trump smashes record to get fastest majority disapproval rating ever

Might be a factor that he got 2.9 million less votes to become President and 'won' ...

It took Obama 936 days to receive majority disapproval ratings, Trump did it in exactly 8.

Fair enough on the story alone not showing my point.  When you add in how the people react to those stories, ie... *crickets*...  you start to see a pattern.

I don't see any protests like we see FOR the behavior that leads to criminals being let go.

I don't really categorize terrorist attacks as major or minor.  A bunch of smaller attacks (compared to 911) is just as bad, imo.

Still 130 an hour is a huge burden on companies, 8 hours in a workday is over $1000 a day.  If they are to compete worldwide, that may be too much to pay.  If you want to earn more, then you have to produce and if what you feel are poorly trained bs'ing indians are getting the jobs, then our companies would see poor results and want you and your higher salary.  Apparently the poorly trained Indians are doing an adequate job.  How is that a liberal issue? Don't conservative companies use the same system?

Fathertime!

So you do agree that H1B visas are not about skills shortage (as they claim) but strictly about depressing wages that we Americans earn. Did I just read a lib make a salient point? Hard to believe. There is a first time for everything. ;D

Which conservative companies use them? I don't know. The biggest users of H1B visas are indian consulting companies such as Infosys. They supply companies with these "skilled" indians with fake resumes and fake skills.

Hardly a strawman.  I made a observation based on what I have been seeing from Europe and here.  Calling it a strawman won't make it go away.  ;)

You seem you suffer from a extreme form of selective reading / selective memory loss

Please inform this British European how we are 'slapping criminals on the wrist' this side of the pond ?

A Brit tried and failed to shoot 'Tramp' and what sentence did he get ?

I imagine if one of your loved ones was killed in a recent attack you wouldn't be saying there hasn't been that many attacks lately.  How many is too many for you?

Less people are dying in Wars or being murdered, actually ..

The comment you quoted had nothing to do with "slapping criminals on the wrist".  You are trying to take something out of context and push a different meaning.

I'll play the game anyway...

Poor refugees don't know how to behave around women.  They need to be told not to touch women at pools.  Bad Refugees!  But, but it's not their fault.

You are the last person that should call out someone for selective reading.  You were trying to convince everyone there was no increase of sexual assaults from areas that saw a large influx of refugees.

I see a lot of excuses made for others bad behavior.

Are there exemptions for language barrier?

Just to put a little bit of clarity here:

I do give the kingdom points for allowing tribunals of sharia law into their mainstream. Not only that, they foster beliefs that it won't be too much longer before their Muslim sector can fly the flag of Islam (ISIL) on top of 10 Downing Street.

Other than that, there's really nothing to fear.

I am not expert, but I checked into the H1B and other programs some years ago.

It was very clearly stated that salaries given to H1B people must be at least as high as the prevailing wage for local workers.

I suppose that even though that is the law, some could argue that it is not followed in practice.

Nope. Minimum salary required was 60K. New proposal sets the minimum to be 130K. There would be less incentive to hire H1Bs to replace Americans.

The announcement came yesterday. It was all packaged into Trump's immigration EO. I'm not sure if wallm confused the numerics though. The new order is to cap *65,000* hirings per year. Not $65,000.00 per hiring. Maybe he can correct me on this.

Largely why the Tech Industry was down yesterday.

Without rereading I believe wallm was referring to the minimum salary requirements, not the actual cap on VISA's allotted.

This would return higher paying dev, network, and tech positions back to the US.

Thanks Alex. I could very well be wrong since I mostly skipped past the H-1B section.

Yes. I was talking about salary. Newly proposed minimum salary for H1B holders in $130K. That will greatly reduce the abuse and bring back jobs to the US where they belong.

Oh DEAR, You DO have reading comprehension issues .. The defendant is STILL being held in prison pending a retrial ... If you had only read the link the Daily Mail had placed to the Local - the Austrian newspaper....

http://www.breitbart.com/london/2016/10/12/protest-migrants-gang-rape-woman-wheelchair/

Did you translate the Swedish version of the Story ? Thought not..  "The civil claimant's story is not so robust that it can be the basis for an arrest. It differs so much from the suspects' story. Overall, I am satisfied that it does not reach up to the reasons for the arrest.'

Do you really think Swedish Police and Prosecutors want to cover up Rapes - lest people blame the govts migration policies ? ...

I already posted two articles talking about women apologizing for being raped.

and failed miserably ..

LFU, If you are daft enough to go for the spin from RT - you are beyond help ..

:))  You know we go on Hols to Turkey ..   a Muslim country .. T'other half likes to wear skimpy bikinis and hates white bits... Does she feel intimidated by local men who constantly want to touch her ? OF COURSE NOT ..

Your article reads like the very worst in tabloid journalism ..

"Germany is one big swimming pool!, trying to integrate the more than a million Middle Eastern refugees and asylum seekers who have arrived in the last couple of years. The most important thing, says social worker Hartmuth Kurzhals, is to make newcomers understand that in Germany, there are rules — and no exceptions."
So, IF a man does touch a girl - inappropriately, he's hardly going to be able to say .. I didn't understand your culture..

Germany has a large population from Turkey  - in cities like Hamburg - there are areas were in could be Istanbul - but this poster feels no less safe when walking there to grab a Kebab ..

You need to stop reading guff.

Women need to dress differently as to not confuse these poor refugees.  Imagine the outcry if American or European men told women they dress too provocatively.

http://www.thelocal.de/20150626/refugee-school-calls-for-uniform-modesty

:)))

Your "The local", again ?  IF you'd bothered to read the German you'd have noted the original states, "Und der sorgt im Internet nun für heftige Diskussionen: Rechtstendierende Medien nutzen die darin beschriebenen Empfehlungen für ein gutes Miteinander, speziell zur passenden Kleidung, als Anti-Asyl-Propaganda."

Yup, and you swallowed this anti-asylum seeker garbage up - hook line and sinker ..

You are the last person that should call out someone for selective reading.

After this practical demonstration to the contrary ..?;)

You were trying to convince everyone there was no increase of sexual assaults from areas that saw a large influx of refugees.

I see a lot of excuses made for others bad behavior.

There were increases in reports of sexual assaults in 'newspapers' - though I wonder how many are like your Swedish 'incident'

What were you trying to prove:

1/ that immigrants mean more sexual harassment ?

2/ that Europeans are 'tolerant' of sexual predators ?

What does that have to do with terrorism?

It demonstrated that the world had become a safer place ...

Gibberish and BS seems to be your lingo.

It is noted you didn't 'play the game' as you failed to respond re the Brit who tried and failed to shoot 'Tramp'

What about the guy?  How does that have anything to do with you white washing rapes and sexual assaults happening in Europe.

Oh DEAR, You DO have reading comprehension issues .. The defendant is STILL being held in prison pending a retrial ... If you had only read the link the Daily Mail had placed to the Local - the Austrian newspaper....

No mention of the court actually letting the guy go because a 10 year old boy didn't say no loud enough?  Do 10 year old boys really need to say NO there? How very, what is the word, progressive of you.

Did you translate the Swedish version of the Story ? Thought not..  "The civil claimant's story is not so robust that it can be the basis for an arrest. It differs so much from the suspects' story. Overall, I am satisfied that it does not reach up to the reasons for the arrest.'

Do you speak Swedish?  Thought not.  More rape apology.  You should be ashamed of yourself.

Quote
Do you really think Swedish Police and Prosecutors want to cover up Rapes - lest people blame the govts migration policies ? ...

Yes, many people like you want to cover up what the refugees are doing.  You are the exact type of person that got Trump elected and caused Brexit.  Congrats!  For that, I am grateful.  Keep up the good work.

and failed miserably ..

So those women didn't apologize and make excuses for their rapists?

LFU, If you are daft enough to go for the spin from RT - you are beyond help ..

Says the guy quoting liberal trash to make his points.  You most definitely are not in any position to help anyone.  I suggest helping yourself.

:) )  You know we go on Hols to Turkey ..   a Muslim country .. T'other half likes to wear skimpy bikinis and hates white bits... Does she feel intimidated by local men who constantly want to touch her ? OF COURSE NOT ..

So all women should suck it up and let muslim men grope them?   You're a true gentleman.  Do you really stand there and let other men paw at your woman?  lol

There are many, many more articles I could post.  I suspect you would say the same to every one that doesn't fit your narrative.

Sounds like more excuses.  I don't go to other countries and disrespect their culture or norms.  I certainly don't go around grabbing women.  Yet you make some bs excuse to justify immigrants and refugees doing exactly that.  How noble of you.  It must make you feel proud to throw your fellow country men and women under the bus.

I'm waiting for comments on how citizens are asked to change their behavior such as dressing less provocative.  You must have missed it while gibbering on about Trump.

You need to stop reading guff.

You mean I should sing kumbaya, read your liberal trash and all will be good.  I do admit you are right, in a way.  I do need to stop reading your posts.

Quote
Your "The local", again ?  IF you'd bothered to read the German you'd have noted the original states, "Und der sorgt im Internet nun für heftige Diskussionen: Rechtstendierende Medien nutzen die darin beschriebenen Empfehlungen für ein gutes Miteinander, speziell zur passenden Kleidung, als Anti-Asyl-Propaganda."

Yup, and you swallowed this anti-asylum seeker garbage up - hook line and sinker ..

Let me guess, you flew over a country and now an expert in all things.  How Moby of you.  Saying there is an influx of sexual assaults from refugees is not anti-muslim.  Saying it is anti-muslim sounds so... wait for it..  apologetic.  I'm seeing a theme with you.

Quote
There were increases in reports of sexual assaults in 'newspapers' - though I wonder how many are like your Swedish 'incident'

What were you trying to prove:

1/ that immigrants mean more sexual harassment ?

2/ that Europeans are 'tolerant' of sexual predators ?

Are you saying the newspapers are wrong?  I thought you were some kind of Swedish expert.

It demonstrated that the world had become a safer place ...

I am sure the victims of terrorist attacks and sexual assaults feel better hearing that.
