OMG! I’m laughing as well because you don’t seem to be able to grasp what I am say-ing

I am say-ing that poor people who can grow their own food because they have access to a small plot of land to use for this purpose are more fortunate than those who do not have access to the small plot of land.  Not everyone has equal access to a small plot of land...

For example, Bill and George, live in the same approximate geographical location and each makes about $2000 per year, Bill however has access to a half acre of land that he uses to grow supplemental food and George does not, therefor Bill is more fortunate than George because Bill has access to the land to grow his supplemental food.  Are you seriously not getting this?  I could ask my daughter to draw a picture for you with a happy face Bill with his garden and extra food and a sad face George who lacks this, would this help you??

Note: Bill and George are not real individuals but hypothetical ones used for illustrative purposes, in case you ask me how much land they had...

What an idiot!

I do find it quite laughable too to see you lost in your own point. You classified poor as those who ‘grow their own food’, but put a caveat that only the fortunate few, like your silly self, is privileged because you can afford ‘dashas’. LMAO!

The reality is, krimster – SQUATTING is a worldwide reality, Even in the great United States of America, it exists. Urban Homesteading exists. Even ‘Free Land’ exists. From the African continent to all of South America – SQUATTING exist. Granted, many if not all of these folks will likely not have internet connection amongst other things, but I’m sure from the nomads of Mongolia to the hundreds of tribal Indians of Brazil, they couldn’t give a sh!t about that as long as they’re able to grown their own food in a squatted land.

I bet you felt yourself one badass for being able to afford 'land' in Ukraine unlike those poor, unfortunate Ukrainian souls, eh? I bet you grew radishes, da? Did you make them borscht to make them feel better? Or maybe you? You are the morally superior one, aren't you? Did you give any of them money so they can buy their own 'land'? If not, why not? Didn't you want to end the world hunger? Or you only do if someone else pays for it?

Thanks for the tip, I spent half my childhood on my grandparents small farm, no animals except canines, plenty of greenhouses and orchards though, and my Uncle who lived not far away had the largest poultry farm in the area, google “Ace Farm Monroe NY, I even worked there a few summers”  I also spent a lot of time in libraries reading and developed some pretty fair reading comprehension skills, what did you do with your time I wonder?

I grew up as a kid in a remote provincial town called Tanay, Mid-Luzon – Philippines. We lived in what can be best termed as a ‘shack’ with galvanized sheets of metal for our roofs. The kind you can see flying around during those typhoon seasons. Grew lot of fruits trees, replete with poultries, stocks (mostly pigs). To get to the nearest town, you walked through a path surrounded by heavy vegetation, take a jeepney ride, and after a cool 40 minutes you can see a about 3 ‘kiosks’ with general goods that probably store far less goods I now have in my pantry. A good number of ‘merchants’ selling produce/fish/meats/live livestocks, etc…we call ‘palenke’. An open air market.

During school days, my sister and I would trek back to the streets of Quiapo, center of Manila. We would shack and live with our cousin in a small partitioned room, part of a communal living with 5 other families in a 900 SF *apartment*. This is pretty ‘normal in the Philippines at the time. A person, or persons, rents an apartment, installs a dividing board all over the place – then sub-rents spaces that make up living quarters for others. We share bathrooms, kitchens,etc..It wouldn’t be out of the ordinary to see 4-5 little kerosene ‘counter stoves’ in these small kitchen. One for each family. I remember having to pump those stoves before we can even us to ‘cook’ with it.

By the time I was 8, I was already ‘working’ for my keep. I’d come home from school, run to the corner store, pick-up a couple of boxes of Juicy Fruit Gum, up to 6 packs different brand of cigarettes; then run to the city’s movie houses and peddle then to people waiting in line for the show. Cigarettes, like in any other 3rd world country, can be sold individually. I make more money that way. If I hustled, I can sweet talk a photo merchant and they would deal me a few black & white photographs of native celebrities, and I get to sell them, too for additional money. I get % of anything I sell. Weekends are a blast because I also get to also add my earning for running bets on horse races. I figure I made enough those days to buy myself, and sometimes sis, shoes and things we needed. I admit, neither she nor I have had to worry about ‘paying rent. The deal was, as long as no one have had to feed and care for our needs, we at least have floors to sleep on.

By the time I was in 6th grade, I amassed gold medals as being best in Religion, Language and History. I was always either 1st or 2nd Honor Roll in all of grade school. Was Class Champion in Oratorical & Declamation contests the school held every year.

You see, because we observed and adhered to every conceivable legalities in the US, my sister and I have had to ‘wait’ almost a decade before my mother can petition us to join her. The whole ‘quota’ thing, you know. So in the meantime, as kids, we have had to look after ourselves for the most part.

I can still vividly remember the time I got the news that papers were filed for my turn to come to the US. I honestly DID NOT want to come. I was so afraid of losing my life where I was at. Dire it may seem to the likes of you. To this day, I can honestly say those have been one of the more joyous years of my life. When in Tanay, we literally ate any conceivable exotic fruits we can dream of – for free. Aratilis, duhat, santol, lanka, bayabas, milon, buko. manga, guyabano, etc..gawd knows I miss them!

Anytime we have visitors, friends, relatives, neighbors…we would slaughter either chickens/ pigs / goats…for that evening’s meal. Despite my snot-nosed face, dirty toes and hands, despite the mind-numbing filth the outhouse emitted, despite having to fetch water from the nearby well for cooking and showers; those were one of the happiest days of my life.

Silly that you actually label that type of living as desolate and desperately poor, no? LMAO!

So I get to the US, and things never got any better in terms of ‘effort’. Worked 3 jobs almost my entire college days. I was offered the silly Affirmative Action package because I was a ‘minority’, but decided against it because as my mother always taught us, the fruits of our labor is always sweeter than the fruit given for free.

FWIW, despite my language ‘deficiencies’ and round-the-clock schedule, I was still able to make mother proud of my academic achievements upon my graduation. I LOVE my childhood years, as much as I LOVE this country! Both sides of my life are joyously enriching! Nope..no desolate and desperately poor here.

not in any place I’ve ever been to, and certainly not Mexico or Ukraine, can you name such a place?

Ukraine…LMAO, you actually classify that as hard living? Mexico? Travel some more krimster.

Again, SQUATTING is prevalent the world over. You may not have the comfort of warm showers or the Curved Sony 70” UHD, but the vast majority of the world's population have no problem with it. It’s true where I grew up, it’s true In Vietnam, Bangladesh, Brazil, Guatemala et al. This shouldn’t come as a surprise for you *travelling krimster* (LMAO), anytime there’s a typhoon on my little island, thousands of people instantly become ‘homeless’. Then they just as fast, they build their desolate and desperately poor and squalid squatters.

good then you know that it was primarily a quarantine, my Grandparents went through two other quarantines before they arrived at Ellis Island on their way from Ukraine to the US, one in Hamburg and another in Hull, England

Quarantine? That’s all they got? Hell, you should know then that many of those immigrants were either held there for the rest of their lives, if not deported. Many could not be processed because of diseases. Many Chinese immigrants on Angel Island were not only detained, they were interrogated, and many were deported. The lucky few that actually got through got to build those darn railroads for literally nothing. Heck, Donald’s ban today is a walk in the park compared to those days.

You feel sorry for Mexicans, eh? LMAO!

yeah, I really don’t know how people manage to survive on so little, so guess I SHOULD read some more, or just allow you to enlighten me unless you don’t know either

Stay on point. Otherwise you’d start looking like a fool arguing with yourself. So let me enlighten your little silly self..

This is I said:
Quote from: GQBlues
Listen, Mexico is one of the world's biggest economy. They have endless resources to foster and produce. They have lured and been rewarded by countless US companies moving their plants due to globalization and trade. They have 'oil', agriculture...and on top of that, the US gives them an annual foreign aid to the tune of $ 400-500 million every year. The sins of their politicians is not the Americans' crosses to bear.

To which you responded:
Quote from: Travelling krimster
if that were true then why is the average wage in Mexico about $6 PER DAY?  last time I went into a Gigante (Heegantay) super-market in Sonorra the prices were just a little lower than in the US, how do people survive there on so little money?

I challenge you to prove to me that anything I said above is untrue. If you can’t, best you STFU and go travel some more.

so you’re saying that pre-1924 immigration which was more or less open border with some glaring exceptions that the US abandoned its sovereignty?

Open borders? Glaring exceptions? Make your point void of qualifications. More or less/Glaring...

*maybe I should, shall I, should I, will you*

so if yur one of them foreigners, where ya from? hmmmm  please don't tell me Mexico, the irony would destroy me...

Ahhh...so this must be the part where folks like you humor your superior selves by attempting to disparage *foreigners* by these silly talk, eh Pindejo? Hhhmmm *Yur* *them foreigners* *ya*…were these suppose to *insult* me? LMAO. No need to act like a pindejo pinche puto. You are one!

really, so if I think that people whom I see living in shacks made of old boxes with no indoor plumbing are desolate, that I am being ‘pretentious’, do you understand the meaning of this word, how is that even remotely pretentious, who am I impressing with this observation?`

No one actually live in boxes.

No need to over-dramatize anything if you’re rigid in your belief. You’re easily making my point as ‘pretentious’.

if it’s all “good in the hood” as you claim with the shack and dirt floor, then please explain the following statistic, why does Mexico have an infant mortality over four times higher than Sweden’s?  Infant mortality can be used as a mapping variable for poverty.  Poverty doesn’t look so benign as you claim

Infant mortality? WTF does that have anything to do with our discussion? Mexico’s infant mortality rate have HUGE deal to do with how its government manages its own population.

That bothers you so much, why don’t you spearhead a program and call the Mexicvan government to action, krimster. Show us the way baby! Walk the talk! Git dem panchos, ese!  LMAO! Up your Mortality arse!

Honestly I’ve read some silly and ridiculous stuff on this board, but I doubt anyone will ever exceed the falseness or ridiculous nature of your comments

That's what you get for reading what YOU wrote! Speaking of *ridiculous*, why can't an astute one, like your benevolent self, figure out how to use 'quotations'?

Must you really have a need to use word docs just so you can cut/paste your posts? Can't manage to post on the fly, ese?

When you make stupid comments like this, I don’t see the need to debate with you, what’s the point, there’s nothing at all to debate

That happens when you didn't really have one to begin with.

So krimster. show us you can actually walk your talk. Go adopt an illegal immigrant family yourself. Feed and nurture them on your own. Donate to charity. Show us your grit and conviction! Don’t be posting in a public forum trying to convince us of your moral self by advocating that the way to proper living is to go and break another person's domain/country's sovereignty.

10-12% of my yearly earnings (combined now with my wife's) find their way to various charitable organizations we support. YOU should do the same if you have a spine to support your silly self-righteous BS.

so you had to wait in line and so you’re pissed at the ones that didn’t, that’s your beef?
maybe you should be more pissed at the ones who made you wait in-line instead...
wow, so you’re more poor then even Mexicans are, so how does that change their life, oh it doesn’t does it...

I still laugh at the fool you are taking sides with the people who care more about your skin color then siding with people who share a similar heritage as your own,

but I guess you knew one day you’d be let in, and these other people don’t have that hope, easy for you to condemn them isn’t it?

“The reality is, krimster – SQUATTING is a worldwide reality,”

No, it is NOT, never saw squatters in Mexico or Ukraine, and these are the only countries I was talking about, you want to talk about some other place that’s out of the scope of this topic

“ bet you felt yourself one badass for being able to afford 'land' in Ukraine unlike those poor, unfortunate Ukrainian souls, eh? I bet you grew radishes, da?”

Radisko, da, why would owning land in Ukraine make me feel “bad-ass”, technically my wife owned it...

“You are the morally superior one, aren't you? Did you give any of them money so they can buy their own 'land'”

Did you ever hear me say I was morally superior?  Actually I helped my wife’s family quite a bit, yes, provided jobs to a small number of people, wife’s family now lives in the farm house I built 10 years ago, so my being there was not a loss for Ukraine

“Silly that you actually label that type of living as desolate and desperately poor, no? LMAO!”

wow, why don’t you head back there and resume that life then if it made you so happy, why are you here?  please, don’t tell me this B.S. about being poor and happy

“‘minority’, but decided against it because as my mother always taught us, the fruits of our labor is always sweeter than the fruit given for free”

again, more B.S. or you’re stupid, why turn down something free for a silly reason like that so I don’t believe you

“Ukraine…LMAO, you actually classify that as hard living? Mexico? Travel some more krimster.

don’t really ever plan on traveling to Zimbabwe or Syria, not why I travel

“quarantine? That’s all they got? Hell, you should know then that many of those immigrants were either held there for”

a very small percentage were held in long term quarantine in Ellis Isle or returned, I’ve been there seen their bunk rooms, so you don’t know what you’re talking about

No one actually live in boxes”

not true, do you think Im talking cardboard?
http://farm1.staticflickr.com/230/488827359_574790cf77_m.jpg

“Infant mortality?  WTF does that have anything to do with our discussion?

because as I said this a marker for poverty, excluding the US, compare infant mortality to rich and poor countries, might be why people don’t want to live in poor countries

Speaking of *ridiculous*, why can't an astute one like your benevolent self, can't figure out how to use 'quotes'? Must you really have a need to use word docs just so you can cut/paste your posts? can't manage to post on the fly, ese?

because I can change the font size, OK Cholo?  it’s not Word, it’s a word processor I created myself and sold back in the day...

thanks for your suggested guidelines for how to live my life, hope you don’t mind that I’m a big boy and can make my own choices.

still laughin at you man, what a “tool” you are, every cripple does his dance, your story sounds well rehearsed, I almost cried for a second

The Emergency Quota Act, also known as the Emergency Immigration Act of 1921, the Immigration Restriction Act of 1921, the Per Centum Law, and the Johnson Quota Act (ch. 8, 42 Stat. 5 of May 19, 1921) restricted immigration into the United States. Although intended as temporary legislation, the Act "proved in the long run the most important turning-point in American immigration policy"[2] because it added two new features to American immigration law: numerical limits on immigration and the use of a quota system for establishing those limits. These limits came to be known as the National Origins Formula.
The Emergency Quota Act restricted the number of immigrants admitted from any country annually to 3% of the number of residents from that same country living in the United States as of the U.S. Census of 1910.

I'm liking what I starting to hear from Trump regarding compromise with immigration.  He might be able to strike a better balance than expected.   Citizenship for dreamers, a residency permit for millions of other lawful workers, are on the table...if these things happen, then the wall or far better/genuine enforcement will have a lot of support.   There are lots of details to be worked out though...but it is way better than some of the other talk I hear from wacko extremists.

FT, that'd be cool if it's true, but compromise might not be popular with his "core" wait and see, be bizarre if the Dream Act just sat there for the last 15 yr only to be passed by Trump...

OMG, really Gator this is so freakin’ simple,  I wanted you to specifically see the “racial immigration cartoons”, they number in the thousands, and NOT mickey mouse,  this reinforces the assertion that immigration is a racial issue,  if it’s not then why the thousands of cartoons, some over 100 years old when you type in the phrase?

Guess the response when I type immigration, cartoons, criminals   or immigration, cartoons, terrorists,  or immigration, cartoons, borders.   Immigration is about crime, terrorism, and protecting borders.

Quote
BTW, if I type in 57 Chevy I don’t get any racial cartoons except about rednecks

You gave me a chuckle.    :D :D :D   Yet it demonstrates your personal prejudice against a cultural element of American society, including my cousins, suggesting you likely discriminate against them in some form.  This is what a racist does.

krimster, maybe in the future we will be able to discuss a topic with more intellectual honesty.  This particular topic has ended for me, not just because of your pulling the race card but more because your ideas are crazy.

We have 40+ million Americans living in poverty.  I say we focus on them rather than allow the entry of more poor who will compete with the American poor for jobs.   You should check out how many of our Black brothers and sisters live, as well as some of our Southern Rednecks, our Native Americans, etc.

BTW, if you search my archived posts you will find that I identified with Rubio's immigration plans, not Trump's.    But Rubio did not win.

Having problem finding your spine to support your silly conviction, or are you gonna be like the rest of liberals who aspire some little idealistic BS as long as its done with other people's money?

C'mon travelling pindejo, you've been harping so hard about your silly self-righteous BS, you could at least pretend you actually do have a teeny-weeny *bone* on your back and prove to us you can do this..

“Nothing like having everyone else pay for YOUR conviction, eh cabron, doesn't it?”

based on your attitudes towards others, it seems to be a characteristic you know quite a bit about, also your exclamation has a few problems with grammar

“I just did with you, homes. LMAO!"

Really? I must have missed it, if you did, I’m sure I would’ve noticed it.

You’re just a sad little man trying desperately to make himself appear a little bigger in his own imagination, and nothing more, keep on imagining....

“So surprise and tell us how many desolate and desperately poor illegal immigrant/s have you adopted”

you know dude, I live with my family, 3 women whom I love dearly, I’m not a patriarchal autocrat, we operate by consensus, there was a time when I really wanted to adopt a child from an orphanage, it was put to a vote and it was 3-1 against.  I respect their arguments for why they opposed this idea, and there was nothing wrong with the points they brought up.  OK? satisfy you?  I consider my family’s financial assets to belong more to them than to me, and so more up to them to determine how they want it spent, my wife prefers to help her own family, and my youngest daughter had a few articles in the local newspapers profiling her when she was about 9 yr old  working with a fundraiser to help people with leukemia and lymphoma, I’m so proud of her, I’d give these articles to you, but sorry I just don’t trust you - and why bother anyway....

“Did I shake you up that much, “

again with the Napoleon complex, and boasting about things that exist only in your imagination, I’m sure you’ll be back to this again and again and again and again, because that’s really all you talk about, ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ  so boring....

what about, “immigration” & “cats” you obviously can’t or won’t grasp what I’m trying to show you and it’s too daunting a challenge to try and get through to you

“You gave me a chuckle.”

that was clearly my intention, In general I don’t discriminate against groups but individuals, hell most of dearest friends would be considered “rednecks” and even call themselves such, I used to watch “Turtle Man” with the kids, loved that guy, would never dream of discriminating against him, would love to be out there with him grabbin' me some turtles!

I 100% agree with you, the topic’s finished and yes you’re not the first person who has called my ideas crazy, I can live with that!!

go in peace brother

I'm pretty anxious to see what winds up happening with the immigration issue now that Trump is softening.  He might be just the right guy to deal with this issue in a balanced enough way to make it all work and finally resolve the problem.
Legalization (of segments) and genuine enforcement are both resolvable issues.  Legal status of others seems like a good compromise.  If this gets done, in the future, as a part of the entire solution, there needs to be a real bloody rap to the knuckles for FUTURE people crossing illegally, that rap would also be for employers knowingly hiring the illegals with their wink/nod.  If not for that, we will have the same situation 10 years from now, with a new crop of people.
Of course I wouldn't discount that maybe that would all be baked into the cake and accepted as a necessary evil.

2nd Travel Ban Order

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump's new immigration order will remove Iraq from the list of countries whose citizens face a temporary U.S. travel ban, U.S. officials said Tuesday, citing the latest draft in circulation. Trump is expected to sign the executive order in the coming days.

The new order includes other changes as well. The officials said the 12-page document no longer singles out Syrian refugees for an indefinite ban and instead includes them as part of a general, 120-day suspension of new refugee admissions.

The officials also said the order won't include any explicit exemption for religious minorities in the countries targeted by the travel ban. Critics had accused the administration of adding such language to help Christians get into the United States while excluding Muslims.

Under the revised order, officials said, all existing visas will be honored.

Trump on Legal Immigration
« Reply #490 on: March 01, 2017, 09:03:15 AM »
President Donald Trump called for a huge overhaul of the nation’s immigration rules to reduce the huge inflow of low-skill, welfare-dependent immigrants, but perhaps also to increase the inflow of productivity-boosting white-collar immigrants.

In his address to Congress, Trump called on lawmakers to pursue reforms to move the nation’s legal immigration program toward a more “merit-based” system.

Trump said curbing the number of “lower-skilled” immigrants who are entering the country would help raise wages for American workers who would be able to “enter the middle class and do it quickly. And they will be very, very happy indeed.”

Most of these unskilled immigrants are the extended family relations of prior unskilled immigrants from South America or Asia, and they tend to push less skilled Americans — white, Latino and African-American — out of the job market. This family based inflow is strongly supported by ethnic political groups, such as the National Council of La Raza and by various Arab, Pakistani, and Islamic political groups.

There is a huge annual inflow of roughly 800,000 salary-cutting, welfare-spending unskilled migrants.

In contrast to unskilled migration, the annual inflow of university educated legal immigrants is much smaller, at perhaps 200,000 professionals per year.  And this white-collar immigrant labor supply is augmented by the resident population of at least 1 million white-collar contract workers who hold long-term H-1B visas or work permits. Roughly 650,000 foreign H-1B workers are employed in a wide variety of white-collar jobs in the United States, including roughly 100,000 as academics, teachers, doctors, therapists, scientists, and designers at American universities. Other visa programs boost the number of resident foreign professionals to at least 1 million.

Though he didn’t spell out details in his speech, Trump’s aides have envisioned proposals to dramatically slash the number immigrants who receive green cards – granting them permanent residence in the United States – which stands at more than 1 million per year. If enacted, such moves could be the first major cuts to legal immigration in more than half a century.

you know dude, I live with my family, 3 women whom I love dearly, I’m not a patriarchal autocrat, we operate by consensus, there was a time when I really wanted to adopt a child from an orphanage, it was put to a vote and it was 3-1 against.

  Oh the DRAMA!

Translation: *You’re the kind of dude who just throws away your silly little liberal ideals like yesterday’s garbage with nary the intent to support any of it. You’d like people to believe how wonderful life can be - as long as it’s on someone else’s dime.*

Travelling Pindejo, you ought to come out here to La-land and walk the streets of Pacoima. Tell them unemployed homeys hanging around with their pitbulls in tow, exactly how jiggled you are having millions of desolate and desperately poor illegals here. I bet you a peso you’ll quickly find out how fast these homeys can make enchilada out of your silly liberal ignorant white arse, ese

You liberal numbnuts Google yourselves through liberal media and based your perspective of life and political views witout an ounce of clue what it is really like outside the internet.

again with the Napoleon complex, and boasting about things that exist only in your imagination, I’m sure you’ll be back to this again and again and again and again, because that’s really all you talk about, ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ  so boring....

Oooh! I actually like another episode of David & Goliath, don’t you? At least we now know YOU are NOT EVEN half the *man* you pretend you are. You are just one GIGANTIC, spineless liberal twit who spread their idealistic BS without any means and courage to support it.

You ain’t got enough money, pindejo? Get a part-time job, ese! Instead of spending the time spreading your silly liberal political views on public forums trying to make yourself into something you're obviously not. You’re just another silly empty liberal numbnut.

gqb,
if someone told me that the latest on-line AI program from Google was a computer translator to convert a Chihuahua’s barking into English and then displayed your post as the output, I’d tell them Google should work a little more on the project and it might actually work...

well my daughters always get upset with me for behaving like I have been, if a Chihuhua starts needlessly barking at you, your response doesn’t have to be to get down on all fours and bark back like I did, you can just be an adult and ignore what really is nothing more than a passing nuisance and get on with things, definitely poor choice on my part, sorry to the board for my juvenile behavior.

this guy pretends that every thought he ever had is the absolute gospel and should be written down and taught to the whole world, and if someone would ever have the audacity to have a view different from his, then that person would be really stoopid!

the funny aspect is that everyone who found themselves engaged in a feud with him, and there’s been a lot, all independently came up with the Chihuhua image, that has to tell you something!  :)

I took a few minutes to read some past posts of his, and I see he’s had the identical feud with others in the past, I also see he has a pretty broad streak of racism within him (based on his own words and not my conjecture).  I don’t share his predilection for hating others based on their race and to him that makes me a target.  Well, that’s fine, if I have to pay a price for viewing racial tolerance in a positive light, I’ll pay it willingly.

The ultimate irony to me is that when you conjure up the image of a bigot, you might think of a stereotyped hulking southern white redneck (which when I wear a baseball cap, I somewhat resemble physically :), but no this is a small Asian guy!!  So I wonder if this guy has himself been the subject of racial abuse, some of his posts claim that he has.

If so, then I’m really sorry dude, if it makes you feel even a little better yelling at me, then you go ahead, get it out of your system if it makes you feel better, but for your own sake, grow up a little, make at least half the effort at loving the world as you do in hating it, you might be surprised at what happens

Damn Krimster, that post is about as passive aggressive as one can get.

BTW, the chihuahua comment is a GQ knockoff.  No doubt you saw him use it before.  He may have even trademarked it.  At least try to be original if you plan on attacking the dude passive aggressively.  ;)
