Big Things in Little Tver!!!
« on: August 23, 2006, 11:12:48 AM »
First I apologize for my absence from the board & my inability to contribute for the past several weeks.
Judging from the PM's I have in my mailbox, many of you were wondering where I disappeared to. Well its a short long story & I'll relate the basics & the rest you can see on our website.
First of all 'Tver Angels' has aquired 'Brides of Tver'! Now both companies have been amalgamated under one roof & one banner, 'Tver Angels'! I have taken on the Russian owner of 'Brides of Tver' as a partner & co-owner & rebuilt the website to some extent. There is still some tweeking that needs to be done but nothing that will hinder us serving our clients. We have added lots of new ladies & more are joining everyday so I am hoping I will be able to keep up.
The negotiations & registration transfer for the new management & owners has taken up much of the past several weeks as well as redoing the website.
We will be adding several more services to the site as well as a couple of more pages in the coming weeks, I am still building them & will add them when finished. The ladies will be added as soon as possible after they register & have their pictures done. They are the priority for the site at this point.
We have come a long way in the past month & I think you will notice the difference. We have had a few guys use our sevices over the past several weeks (hopefully they will post their experience soon) & meet some of our ladies as well as ladies at other agncies in Tver, although one I am no longer dealing with or will recommend as they totally fleeced one of our clients. Total greed & jealousy, nothing more.
So with all that going on, as well as still holding down my job, it has been a very busy time & I just have not had the time till now to visit the board & to answer all the queries. So thats the short & the long of it. I hope you like the changes & I hope you find a lady or two on our site that may interest you. We may be small but we are growing fast & moving up quickly. As my friend Allistair says - Watch this space!
You can visit our site at your leisure to check out the changes & additions at www.tverangels.com
Thanks to all for your patience & understanding.

You sure have made some changes! Isn't that Leo Frankowski? Good stuff Richard, glad to see that things are picking up for you.

Richard, just a personal, totally subjective suggestion : a background in some light, solid colour (rather than your current "image306.jpg") for your first page would make it more easily readable (and marble may evoke unpleasant subconscious associations in some minds ;)).

Also, I would conceal the grid in the bottom table (now its last 3 rows are empty). You only need to change the end of line :
<table id="table1" height="222" cellpadding="2" width="941" border="1">
to read border="0">

OK, I'll go for broke. How about changing the colour of Canadian Owned & Operated from orange to red, to tie in with your flag above ? Just change :
<font style="font-size: 28pt;" color="#ff9000"><b>Canadian Owned &amp; Operated</b></font>
to read color="RED" rather than color="#ff9000".

Just my 2 lires' worth. Wish you success with your new venture.

Thanks guys, yes Ken, that is Leo Frankowski, his wife is my new partner. Leo lives in Tver & is writing his books from here & has for the past several years.
Sanro I'll take your suggetions to the drawing board.
I'm no programmer but fiddle around as best I can. As far as the color ghange of the wording, too easy, that I can do, the background well that may be togher as I want the same background on every page & that ould meam changing evey one ndividually which will take some time.
The bottom grid I am slowly filling up, so I think leaving it as is won't hurt too much for the time being. They will all soon have banners in them anyway.
Thanks for the suggestions though.

RVR,

Sandro is right.. that marble has to go.. actually looks more like granite and very distracting, almost making the text unreadable.

I'd put this at the top of the to do list.

Thats what it is now, but I'm told that is hard on the eye's. Sheesh, just ain't no pleasing nobody :'(
I can't figure out how to change the color at this point, its either the marble or white for now. I would like to change it to a light peach but can't figure out how to do that yet. I'm no programmer & am working with only basics here.
I found the current marble is saved as an image file so as far as I can tell I have to find the colour I want & upload it as an image file & name it what the old file was named & presto, all the pages change. The trick now is to find & figure out how to upload the image. I found several on my puter but not the colour I am looking for so until then I guess its white unless somone can find me an image I can upload to replace it.
All I did to get the white was rename the file so the index.html can't find the marble & defers to the default white color.
I'm learnin' but its hard to teach this old dog new tricks! ;D

Richard, would the attached image do ? I can make it darker or lighter, if you want.

Correct. Right-click the image below, Save image from the pop-up menu to the directory where you keep the website pages and images (its name should be "image306.jpg").

If I understand you correctly, your website pages are stored on a PC you have direct access to, not on some provider's server. In this case, doing what I outlined above will do the trick.

You were not doing too badly, so far  ;)

Okay it worked, I think a little lighter might be better though. Take a look & see what you think. A more salmon coulor maybe. It makes the writing & picks stand out great. But is a little bright. Thanks Sandro!

Richard,

I'm seeing a little bit of horizontal scroll on the page. Haven't looked at the source code yet but just wanted to let you know. Will take a look later when I get home.

Yes, tone down the color just a bit and (if possible) fade out the texture a little too.

Ken

P. S. Nice Banner at the top of your page! That must have cost you plenty!  ;) :D ;D

What in hell is that. Never heard of it & have no idea how to fix it & I don't see a dang thing , well except a lot of peach colour, LOL.
Yeah, super cool banner, I still owe for it actually, a piva or 2 when I hookup with the dewd that built it for me, ;D :D

In the table cell that contains the header image there is an align="center" which may push the page a bit wider than in should be. It is not supposed to but I've seen stranger things happen with HTML. I'll look again when I get home as it could also be the work environment here. It may also be the width of the image itself. Let me see if I can get you a couple of slightly smaller versions.

Also the Meta tags should be in the Head section and not in the Body.

OK, here's a couple of alternatives (hard to judge the final result on a small 80x80 picture, you'll have to try them on the actual page). I would also align your logo to the top edge of the page, by inserting :
<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="100%" align="center" VALIGN="TOP" border="0">
right after the long meta content tag (which, as Catzenmouse rightly points out, should be elsewhere ;)).

Don't see the problem at home but I've got a larger screen and a higher resolution here. Here are a couple of other versions of the file. One is 975 pixels wide and the other is 950 pixels wide. Just in case you need them.

Here I is, rebuilding my website on RWD!!!! ;D
Thanks guys got 'em, now to see if it works.
Ken according to my puter the page is bigger than it shoud be as well, I'll try & swich the banners & see what happens.
I think the ligter color will work well Sandro, I'll throw that up right away. I already changed the meta tags & the other stuff you gave the code for. I think I need to change it on every page separately though, bummer.

BC,

That's a good idea. How about a blue background on the left side with white text? I'll probably have to adjust the width of the blue to fit the page. I just guessed for now at 200 pixels.

I tried white text on the current background & it looked good but was a little difficult to read.
I don't think I want to try sticking a partial background in there. I really don't think I got the smarts to figure that one out. Everytime I try deleting or changing the size of some of the sections I screw up the whole page, so I gave up, LOL. I'm just working with the sections that are there & doing what I can with them.
I did change to blue text trying to match the blue on the Russian Flag ;D

Richard,

I don't think it would be too hard to do. Let me look at your source code and if I can work it I'll send you a text file that you can just rename to your home page HTML page. That way you can at least have a look at it

Ken

P.S. PM me your gmail address again. I don't think I have it anymore
