It's up to you how you handle this, however I'd probably do things in a different manner.  You say you became engaged to her in December, well,,, that's only 3 months ago, was she in bad health at that time?  I know nothing about the health care system in Ukraine, but I suspect it's similar to that of Russia, in other words, it's socialized medicine.  I wonder how you rack up a $5,000 debt in a free hospital.

Is this another "one week wonder" story?  I'd be curious about how you met this woman, and how much time you have actually spent with her.

And, BTW....  The 20 y.o. daughter is not eligible for immigration under the K-Class visa, so she should not be a consideration.  That part about *injuring the mentality of the child* is simply a confusion factor.

Regards the possibility that you have lost your mind,,, sending 5K by WU would prove that point in my humble opinion.

She was in perfect health when I was there. I'm not sure what a "one week wonder" story is though. I have an approved visa for her and her daughter sitting in the Emabassy in Kiev. It was a first trip to Kherson for me but I used a very reputable agency up to the time I arrived in Kherson. At that point she was always cautioning me about that agency and said that they were bad. It was a bit of a whirlwind romance and I went home engaged and pretty darned happy. We corresponded without the agencies help from that point forward as per her request as she was so critical of them. I know I broke a lot of the rules here, hindsight is 20/20. The request's for money for this or that seemed reasonable at the time. It didn't add up to much but I was under the impression in Ukraine when you become engaged your expected to help out with the finaces. I have learned much from my experience and am not bitter and angry. I am however much wiser to what can happen if your not very careful.

I dont think its blackmail as I was a perfect gentleman with her and she has nothing to blackmail me with. I think what she is refering to is the stress she was put under when I reported her to the agency for her last request for new clothing or she would not depart to America with me. The agency was investigating her for this and there was an issue with the translation of her letters regarding that clothing request? I gave her the benefit of the doubt and asked that the investigation be stopped and the agency owner agreed to do this. The agency advised me to write to her and offer to fly to her and go shopping for her new clothes and i did that.  This is the next responce I recieved. More money needed.

What was the "very reputable" agency you used to find this scammer???  Be glad that you did not bring this woman into our country.  It is now time for you to pick up the pieces / make sure she does not get a visa on your back and clean up your record with the BCINS so you could find a legitimate foreign girl in the future.

We refer to an engagement such as yours, one trip to meet a woman, spending a week or 10 days with her and coming home engaged, as being a "one week wonder".  I think our own Ken C coined the phrase on another board, if I'm not mistaken.

This practice is generally considered to be in poor judgement.  You really need to know someone a whole lot better before committing to something as serious as marriage.

I'm waiting for a responce from the agency this morning about this last letter. I would prefer to wait until I hear from them. I was pretty broken up over the whole thing thinking possibly I had done something wrong and misjudged her intentions. This letter pretty much says it all for me. I'm not sure what to do with the visa sitting there in Kiev she has yet to go to the medical exam and the interview and was about to send her my financial information to her. I keep thinking how much worse this could have been if she had just gotten her hands on my private investments and personal banking information. Any advice would be appreciated for sure you don't suppose she might actually try to get to this country again?

You need to immediately send an e-mail to the Embassy.  Tell them that the wedding plans are off and that the visa should not be given out under any circumstances.  

Contact the BCIS where you filed the I-129F and have them pull the application.  Mark this woman "persona non-grata".

A very strange e-mail. I read it 2 times. And it seems to me that person is doing a kind of blackmail - a mysterious one week story and etc... But, probably, Greg, you are hiding some very intimate facts about that visit to Ukraine. That's why this situation with that girl looks strange and incomprehensible.
