If you read the show blog, most of the bloggers object to the negative portrayal of MOB women. 

Many bloggers are foreign women (Japanese, Hungarian, Italian, German) married to American men and really took exception.

Some comments are very insightful.  It sounds as if a couple of the men are RWD members.

A couple of American women complained about foreign men scamming them (they needed money for tix).

A couple of feminists had their usual comments.

   I read through several dozen of the posted replies to the program on Tyra's website, and the majority were critical of her attitude and statements towards the foreign brides who were on stage, along with their husbands.  Apparently, all 4 guys were portrayed as "losers" who had snagged these gorgeous model-type ladies and, I suspect, they were chosen to appear on the program for that very reason.

   However, many of the website replies defended bi-cultural marriages, and most of those replies came from foreign women themselves.

   So, while Tyra's take may have been totally against these marriages, she may have generated a backlash against what many responders observed in her statements and demeanor on this topic.

   There were 194 responses posted to Tyra's website at the time I just read them, and I'd be interested to hear from anyone else who actually saw the show, or read more of the website responses than I did.

   Too bad Tyra didn't check in with Dan, Jet, Ken or some of our other successfully married American-Russian couples.

   Gotta get back to work.

I am not sure what areas are served by WWOR or KTTV - but Oxygen is carried on most cable and satellite providers.

PS. It looks like WWOR is a New York City station - and KTTV is the Fox station in Los Angeles. I may be wrong, I didn't do a lot of checking, but that's what it looks like from a quick check.

In the audience was Don, who expressed an interest in going the mail order route to find love. He said he was looking, particularly, for a Russian woman because they were more “traditional” and more willing to forgo a career to stay home and raise children like his mom did. I think someone forgot to tell Don that it is 2007 not 1957.

What is this so unbelievable? The show was a set up from idea to taping and American women have an agenda. What Don was saying is that the feminist movement has been a failure for traditional family life.

Does anyone really believe the mass media would should anything different?

I thought that this was telling as well.

When Tyra asked if American men look for Russian women because they are submissive, Katerina said American men that seek Russian women probably have a tendency to be controlling. Tanya said the age difference is an individual thing. She, personally, would not go for someone 20 to 30 years older, but she has friends who did and are happy. All of the women refused to acknowledge that getting an older man with money equals security. Tyra asked the women what they would say to American women who say they are taking their men, Tanya said she would ask what they (us) were looking for to pass up her husband. Tanya went on to say that she does not feel like second choice (since the men couldn’t seem to find a beautiful American women to make their wifey), instead she felt special that her husband would cross and ocean and choose her to be his wife.

I guess love is love, wherever you find it. The takeaway would be, even in matters of the heart, make an informed decision and be careful. Perhaps the buyer AND the “purchase” should beware.

 she quipped off something I couldn't hear(the sound level was very low.)  Of course in the very short context of TV ,I'll come off as a loser who's stuck in the past. Big F'in deal.

 I don't want my kid/s coming home after school just to sit in front of the TV and drink sodas. I also don't want them to be in a daycare until it's time to go home.
 If that's sooooo bad , than yeah I'm stuck in the 60's.

 FWIW at the end of the show Tyra asked me if I still wanted to go find love abroad, after hearing all those horror stories.   I told her yeah and if your a loser you'll get used. if you know what your doing you;'ll do fine.

I hope you understand that my "Unbelievable" comment was directed ONLY at Banks' editorial remark about 2007.

Just my opinion, but you have the God-given *right* to want whatever you damn well please in terms of a life-partner - and if that is a stay-at-home wife who takes care of the kids - who the hell is Tyra Banks to tell you that is not OK ?!?

For the record - my wife stays at home. She runs a childcare - but she chose that option deliberately so that she put our daughter first.

My run in with karina was very brief outside of the studio. she asked me if I had a girl in the FSU . At the time I did but never bothered to tell them as I really didn't feel like telling them much. Anyways she asks and  I say ,"no I don't"  Her reply was ,"good cause I'd kick your ass!"  Uhh ok like so your the only one allowed to use some guy you knew for only 10 days, marry him and get to the USA ?   Too bad she was the victim and Tyra was only wanting to show that us guys are control freaks ,looking for submissive women to control. yawn ......

 OK Dan I thought it was at me.  I don't know why anyone thinks being at home raising their children is a cop out on society?   From what I have seen, it's a very difficult job,at least at work you get a lunch,and breaks. Having kids is like owning your own 7/11 and your the running it by yourself.
 
 guys if you do see this shit show, just remember it'll be chopped to fit their idea of what it is they wanted to get across.  I sat on the show for about 3/4 of it . It was pathetic, Michael was brought out to embarrass himself to a room full of 20-30 somethings women. Yeah he's a sad case,I was speaking to him for about 20 minutes prior to airing.   All he could do was blame AFA for getting scammed. It had nothing to do with AFA, it was him ,but he never realised this.

 Murder ,rape, and porn ,it's all in there. tyra wanted to empower the women, and trash the men.

The Tyra Banks show ranks absolutely no following. None of her past shows are out there either. Not on this site, or other bittorrent sites.

It's a woman's daytime show. Something for AW to watch while eating ice cream out of the tub (or off their sweats when needed)  Who cares what they think ?

TV production people like this show have an agenda, to make men look bad and empower women, these people wrote the script and edited the tape to show what they wanted the outcome to be, they carefully selected the men who were dumb enough to agree to be on the show.

American women would like nothing more than to discredit looking for a foreign bride but how many men will watch this show or even hear about it? This was written for American women so they would feel better about being, fat, thankless, selfish bitches who care little to nothing about their families.

I was going to check this out ... but for me, it's not worth the aggravation. I know within minutes of listening to this crap, I'd get upset and want to do 'something' about it.

In the end, we all know what this is. And in the 'real' world, and in particular, my world, what this women thinks means nothing to me ... nor has it any bearing on my decision to look for a FSUW.

When I find the right lady for me, much like so many of the men who are members here, and I have a happy, loving relationship ... I can look at women like Tara and laugh ... and actually feel kinda sad for her. Those who are so busy attacking others and what makes them happy are unhappy themselves ...

Don't even get me started on that person, :seething: Rosie is just a waste of oxygen as faar as I'm concerned.  Now Tara is just another typical model -some beauty and no brains-once her looks go she will cease to exist in the public spotlight (she's already 3/4 of the way there)

 

 I saw a video clip years ago when Rosie had Tom Selleck on her show and she started to harange him about his being a life time member of the NRA (National Rifle Assocation for our foreign members). Tom Selleck was a true gentleman, he deflected her questions for a very short time and told her that he was not invited to speak about his political views, but to talk about his upcoming movie.  Tom Selleck was a class act, She would not let the issue go and ended up looking stupid.

I didn't read everyones comments or the links but did the show put the guy who got scammed $40,000 on and did they show the part where Ashley Neil pulled out some papers accusing John, the owner of AFA of doing porn tours?

No matter who went on thei show, including a couple of regulars on forums, the show put enough clowns on to turn it into a circus.

The comments being posted at the Tyra Banks website are overwhelmingly negative toward Banks and her demeanor towards the 'guests.' It looks to me like maybe the tide is beginning to turn a bit - with some backlash soon to be felt by the radical feminists.

I don't believe Neal's antics made it to the final piece.
