elen, if anyone were Russian Mafia they would not have a problem getting into this country.   My understanding is they don't even have to go to an interview.

I was not going to post anything till I knew for sure but a little while ago I had a message from Luda that DHL has a package for her.   She won't be able to get it till tomorrow.

A.  It could be that the decline of our application is final and they are returning her Passport.

B.  It could be that they reviewed the 28 pages of records I faxed to them 6 days ago and have approved the visa.    I had been instructed to contact them for a final decision in 5-6 working days which would have been this coming Wednesday.   My hopes are that if they did another denial they would have waited for me to contact them before returning the Passport.   I am hoping I hear good news tomorrow but I don't want to get my hopes too high.

Keep your fingers crossed for me and I will let you know when I hear anything for sure.    Thanks for the support Erwin.   I really appreciate it.

I just got a message from Luda and she tells me she has the visa.  This has to be one of the happiest days I have had for a long time.   I want to thank everyone for their help and support.

Allow me to be the FIRST to offer a HEARTY congratulations - and best wishes for the remainder of the ordeal of getting her here - and futzing with the BCIS.

Congrats!

Thank you Dan.   I hope what we went through was the worst of it but you never know.   I am sure we are both up for any challenges.   I appreciate the good wishes.  I am so excieted I don't know if I will sleep at all tonight but what ever I do I will have a smile so big my ears may fall in.

My plans are to make plane reservations for her in the morning and hopefully she will be here on the 25th of August.   I am on a business trip to Atlanta and Dallas and won't be back myself till the 23rd.

Excellent!!!  Congrats of course.  When was your first correspondence with her? The 25th will be here soon. It may be tough to work before then...

I'm glad to see your persistence worked out. A few days relaxing and the real work starts. Good Luck to you both.. really.

btw what kind of additional backup info did you send? Or do you think the politicians were able to 'bump' things along?

To answer your question BC, at the time of the interview I had my tickets and boarding passes for my trip in January, My trip in March/April. My trip in May and my trip in July/August. I had 4 photos from each trip except the last. I had probably 25 e-mails and an index page that showed we had 2650 e-mails and were sending 20 a day or so. I had copies of reciepts that I had sent her flowers for Womans Day and Valentines day. That was what I had for the interview.

I went to the internet cafe the afternoon of the failed interview and printed out 80 of the last messages we had sent and Luda had some post cards I had sent her from Pittsburgh and Vegas. We took those to the embassy that afternoon. The word I got was that they said that was the same stuff we had at the interview. The e-mails were all new and the post cards had not been submitted.

In a message after that there was some mention that the e-mails I gave them were all from the same period which I was trying to print fast. i did a print, back, print back, print so that was true.

With the 28 pages i faxed them a week ago i had two pages of Luda's phone bills showing calls to me, and four pages of my phone bills showing calls to her. (One call per page actaully) I had about 20 new photos of the two of us together. I printed out about 6 messages from janaury, 6 from Febuary, 6 from March etc. I enclosed ticket stubs, mostly dated of the things we did together and a hotel reciept for our room togehter for the interview.    Anyway, it worked.    I am not sure how much was the additional information and how much was the congressman.   I am sure it all helped and one way or the other i am happy to move to the next stage.

Doug,  I had thought we had started writing in October but when I went back to the messages i guess it was early November.   We met for the first time in Early January.   Anyone crazy enough to go someplace like that in Early January must have rocks in their head but it sure was a good move.

Thanks for all the support and good wishes.

Ray

I also admire your restaint with some of our members at some of the things posted.  But overall, you got great advice here and you have extended the knowledge base for those of us who will follow you in this process.  Believe me, my girl will know my kid's names because of your crazy experience! :)

The fact they kept his fiancee's passport is a very good sign - it almost always means they will look over everything again and issue the visa shortly.

turbo - like I said several weeks ago, they would issue her visa after you jumped through a few more hoops.

First, a very hardy congrats!

Now, don't screw-up with the AOS stuff and make us worry about you again!

No, I don't think she knows their names and ages yet but she will be at our company picnic with them a week from Saturday so she should have plenty of time to get acquainted.   Truthfully, I look for them to be good friends even if she does not know thier names yet.

T/G,

For your sake I'm glad the ordeal is over.

While you may believe differently, I've never wished you ill.  Do I think you've made some mistakes? Yes, I do.  I think you have viewed the FSU as a pet store.  Your Ludmilla is not a cute puppy to be trained as you wish, but you'll learn of this after she arrives.

Good luck to you.

Ray and Luda, I am glad that you finally received the visa!  Good luck to you in the new life together.

I have been reading here and also on vj.  My Oksana has her interview on 24 August.  I am working hard on my new home trying to complete some projects.

Does anyone have experience with bringing a teen ager to the visa interview?  I wonder what questions they might ask her?

Turbo,

Congrtulations, I was very happy to read that Luda's visa was in her hands... I wish you two the very best. I was also happy to see that your relationship with Luda was able to weather this storm. I'm sure it won't be the last but the two of you seem to really want it to work. Again, best wishes!!!!!!
