Well Ronnie, come out and visit my bowling league on Monday nights and this guy will look like he should be on the cover of Gentleman's quarterly in contrast, even without any changes.

Personally I would respect the guy a lot less if he did as KenC and some others suggested.  My take on him is that is the way he is.  If he dressed himself in spiffy clothes just to impress a woman and then reverted back to his comfortable self once he got her home to me that would be very deceitful.   Hey, this is him gals, like him or find someone else.   To me that is being honest.

Gee Turbo,
You must have missed where I posted

The one point I would like to make is that the idea of dressing well for a date with a woman is not a "false front" in my book.  It is who I am as a person.  I would also expect the same from the woman I was dating too.  How a woman dresses for a date with you is also VERY telling.

So Doll, would that not make him 35 if he was here for 35 years and born here?

As for people saying he's an acceptable guy "compared",strong  to the other AM that show up in Russia, I have one question. Being that RW are some of the most intelligent, beautiful women on this planet. Why is "acceptable" and "average" the best they can expect? As though they don't deserve effort. Yet these women place so much effort to be cultured, educated, well dressed and usually always try to put their best foot foward.

Mspanky :D
YES,they deserve the best men in the world, who will put an effort to win them from other gorgeous competitors and then will treat them as the queens...and some girls get that. But lets face the reality:the best men very rare go to get the wife in Russia. Mostly the quality of men ,hmmm, somewhat worse than the girls...

:offtopic: I would like to nominate Mr. and Mrs MsMoby_Ru as king and queen of this here ball! Smart looking couple!

Why thank you, Kind sir,  but *you* don't need to be so nice... *you* don't owe us money !! :)

This was Madame's birthday and I'd just proposed, and she'd said YES... This explains the smile on my face.

I notice Doll is now saying we must accept Eduard as the arbitrator of "John's" motherland, rather than the man himself  ...

Doll, I'm sorry we drove you to drink! .. :)

Wow! Calling people stupid. Nice. I'm one of Eds clients as some of you know. I'm very happy with the nice girls I am writing to thanks to Ed. Quality! One beautiful girl is an engineer working in a government office. She has a good life, good job, good friends and loves Ukraine. She is looking for a man, not first looking to move to another country.  We make each other laugh and are getting very close. She doesn't speak English but speaks Ukrainian and I can understand most of it with the exception that the Ukrainian language here is out of date. At first I thought she has such a good life and wouldn't want to move but it looks like love can conquer this. We are planning a meeting. This is just one girl I am writing to. There are other girls just as interested. What kind of a guy am I? I work hard for a living and enjoy it. Use work for a workout to stay in shape. Put a suit on me and if not for my hard worked hands you wouldn't be able to tell me from a lawyer or banker. I like to dress well and be a perfect gentleman. I would not swear in front of a lady and as for chewing gum, if a guy come to work for me chewing and snapping gum I'd tell him to hit the road.

Agency promo maybe? Are there people like this in the US unfortunately? yes! I worked in one of the national Labs and several times I had very good salesman(they knew their business) call on me and they looked just like this guy. One guy we gave a very extensive tour of the facility. He was just like this guy he wanted to prove that he was a idiot.
I have to admit they these people came a little better dressed than this men.
Unfortunately the US does not place high standards on manner or respect at times. I had this conversation with my ex million times. "Watch that guy eat" was a very typical or "how he is dresses" for others. My ex brother in law is a photocopy of this gentlemen and he is good in his business. But as far as I am concerned he is a slob like many ladies and gentlemen pointed out!
As for Doll, I do believe that he husband is not the best dressed. Here is San Francisco the joke is always watch the programmers at intel. You will know the best by how badly he is dressed. That is a dress code for software types.

He is a VP- always white shirts and dressy pants (I shop for him). Outside his work he doesn't care- just yield if I yell  :D

Couldn't they have gotten a classy guy to follow? :wallbash:

My verdict upon watching the video - he's a TYPICAL American guy. No, he's not high class. But he's not the worst either. Who knows, he maybe an okay person (if misguided, LOL), and besides some of the sweetest people I know do not look like models.

Physically, of course he looked completely out of his league. But frankly, there're tons of guys like him here in the US - an out of shape doofus Homer Simpson prototype.   :rolleyes2:

However, my vague disgust with the video was not so much due to the guy, but due to the complete mismatch of the girls and the guy. And I'm not talking about "looks"...

NONE of the girls spoke decent English, likewise the guy was completely clueless about Russia, its culture, the language... I mean, don't you think there's something fundamentally wrong with this picture?  I wonder, just what kind of a relationship he hopes to have with his chosen girl if they can't even communicate without a translator? JMHO.

  Catman,

I see you are the sort of man who wants to project a good image and has respect for the woman you are involved with. It takes little effort to dress presentably and it takes no money at all to learn to conduct yourself as a gentleman. Class is not about money!! Some people can have all the money in the world but still have no class. We now think "no class"is normal in the U.S. Because we look at bad examples and compare ourselves to them.

That's the reason why many foreigners think of Americans as classless buffoons.

I guess the clue is in Ed's concept- he is searching among those who are NOT into foreign husbands. Read the site. There is something in it- the girls are not "West" oriented.

With all due respect Doll, my wife wasn't searching for a foreign husband (or a husband at all, for that matter) when we met, but she was appreciative of the fact that I had taken a few moments to educate myself on Russian history, culture, customs, and language. Furthermore, she was happy that I showed enough respect for her to dress and act appropriately.

RG it gives me no pleasure to say.. I DO know what you mean ( the guy is from my "motherland") but IF you watch the video to the end "John" is beginning to realise that, despite all his travels, he has a lot to learn.

May be there's hope for him...

I'd like to know if he has found "happiness", yet..

May be Ed ( "the guide" ) can tell us.. I know Doll's looking for him, as she needs to "pay" Ed to tell us all that "John" - Ed's client  - isn't REALLY Irish and he put on that brogue ( Irish accent ) to "trick" us ;)

As for Doll, I do believe that he husband is not the best dressed. Here is San Francisco the joke is always watch the programmers at intel. You will know the best by how badly he is dressed. That is a dress code for software types.

Ha!  I manage a software group at a semiconductor company in Silicon Valley, and I can tell you that the best programmers aren't at Intel.  I've interviewed a hundred of them and they all suck.  The truly talented programmers have much better career options in Silicon Valley.  If you come across a guy who is a programmer at Intel and dresses poorly, you've got the worst of both worlds.

The girls can express any "Fe" but still we didnt see their husbands-how they look and behave...I wouldnt trust that. Everybody wants to look very successful, especially in the net ;) No,there are the girls who have got the great husbands, but also majority of those who have got something like John. Or worse.

Along comes RussianGirl and presto! - another bonafide expert on American men. John was not even typical of the men who travel to FSU.  In my nearly two years residing there, I met many on the street, in airports, restaurants - More perhaps than the ladies on this board met in their own country - I'm talking 30-40 men, average age; mid to late forties, and I took the time to find out about them. There was a county attorney from Michigan, a family therapist from Chicago, another psychologist from Utah, three good ol' boys from Alabama (not sure what they did but they sure partied a lot), a pilot and lawyer from Phoenix, a professor of astronomy from Tucson. and many, many more.

I helped one guy, a realtor from West Virginia do his I-129f (He suddenly died before his GF went to the interview - she went anyway, stayed with his relatives and met and married another AM while she was there).  Let me say this too; in nearly every case, I thought the guys were dating women that weren't their equals. I interpreted for some of them to just to help out and improve my Russian.   I whispered to more than one AM, "Between you and me, I think you can do better."

Yep, I'm opinionated and I never met anyone as crass as Ed's Irish client.  But then they were all traveling independently (except for the 'bama boys).  Maybe the confident and self-assured guys do it that way, while those who don't believe in themselves rely on someone to lead them by the nose.

BTW, I have Irish roots myself (Rush Co Dublin) and proud to say so, but John was a discredit to any nationality and typical of none that I know.  Thank goodness for that!
