what is your point with all this ethnic background talk?

Hi May, rather than my explaining it all, again, could I respectfully suggest you read the thread?

Oh I just remembered one man I met once. He was on his way to Ukraine on one of those tours. He was going through bankruptcy at the time of his trip and his house was being repossessed!

If you fly in September from Seattle to Kiev it costs less than $1000. If you fly from New York, it will cost less than $900 and that includes all taxes.

exactly, thank you.

My mistake was that I argued how he compared to all American men in America, not American men on sex tours (or whatever)  in FSU. So I apologize to Doll, we were talking different subjects here.

It's OK, May, I accept your apology, too ;)

Oh, ok now all those sex tourists are executives with 00000 income.

And the ones who aren’t must be Irish….
OK, I see now how it works.

 :cluebat:

Uh-oh.

I see this heading down the slippery slope of defining a "sex tourist".

For anyone so interested, please visit these topics in which this was previously explored:

If an AM told a RW that he makes only $9 per hour and he made the trip to Russia.....

..... I assert that the AM said such because after meeting the RW he was no longer interested in her and did not want to hurt her feelings.

I hope no one has misinterpreted my comments here.  Every occupation is honorable..especially those occupations who have been painted as "unacceptable" to certain parties.  Those who place their lives on the line to protect their neighbors are the best of the best.

Passing over good men in favor of someone who earns more is risky business indeed.  In my financial planning days, my clients were almost always inclined toward stinginess..it's what brought them their weath.

Someone commented about negative net worth.  When I was still in the asset gathering phase of my profession, my young son would see someone driving an expensive import and say, "Look, pop, they have money, maybe they'll come to you and be clients."   I told him it wasn't likely as those who felt the need to make a show of prosperity usually did so on credit.  I usually only saw those people when they changed jobs and needed 401k advice or when their parents died and left them an inheritance.

Pursuing a wife in FSU, bringing her here and supporting her is an expensive proposition. I don't see how anyone can do it who does not have substantial income and/or assets.
Just one visit to FSU will set you back at least 3 - 4 K, and probably more, the dollar is down and the airlines are raising their rates, again. Check out for airlines prices to Kiev, they would hit 2K this summer for the ticket alone.
I just don't understand the essence of this discussion ! I PERSONALLY (PERSONALLY!) know quite many AM who afterwards couldn't provide the family (RW and kids) or could barely do it. People save money or they charge credit card.
I've just got my tickets for June ( will stay in Russia for more than 2 months which is an additional fee plus) and it is $1230 (NY-Moscow-Krasnodar). It is summer , it is more than 2 months and it is a 3 day stop in Moscow (they also charged us)
But for my kid I could go out of season and get the tickets half price.
Needless to say I have been saving money for more than a year- put some aside.

Olga , I enjoyed reading your stats but it is the ABERAGE thing and also read this
(from your infor)
Quote
Police and sheriff’s patrol officers had median annual earnings of $47,460 in May 2006. The middle 50 percent earned between $35,600 and $59,880. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $27,310, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $72,450. Median annual earnings were $43,510 in Federal Government, $52,540 in State government, and $47,190 in local government.
Do you see the lowest 10 percent? Or do you understand how the stats get the infor?
Or how much is child support? I've mentioned these cops paid it to their ex's. It automatically reduces the income tremendously

Methinks some RWs are revealing way too much about their priorities.  Oh, I forgot...it's for the sake of the kids. :ohbrother:

Doll, honestly, I can not understand what you want to say...

I just posted a statistic without highlighting any key points  :)

Do I understand how the stats get the info? Yes, I do. It was part of my job in Russia.  :) Payed out alimony usually is not taken into account of such reports and statistic.  :)

One of the essence of discussion is that it is very expensive to pursue the RW. May be heretofore it was not so expensive, but it is now and it is getting to the point that lower middle class of our socioeconomic strata would be out of it. I have absolutely nothing against the lower middle class, policemen, firemen et al are backbone of our society,  but they would not be looking for women in FSU any longer, including the subject here.

I refer to the GQ aritcle published recently whereby an average person spent 8 - 10 K or more, that is on one trip.

Are we discussing the past or the present and the future of this pursuit.

I am willing to accept that there may be people who have done it on the cheap; but how successful they have been, that is unclear.

With regard to the airlines ticket, Dan was able to find a RT to Kiev for $1639, when you add up taxes, fuel surcharge etc.  it will add up to near $2K.

In case someone has not noticed it,  the airlines are losing money, big time, there is no business that can continue to lose money,  they have to raise their rates.

I am certain that in a few months all flights to FSU will cost more than 2K, does not matter where you are going from or where to. Stay tuned.

One lady in Odessa got a letter from a guy living in Rancho Bernardo, California (a nice suburb of San Diego).  She didn't want to respond to him because she thought he was a rancher.

I remember Scott Jay, the affluent Harvard educated lawyer living in Malibu on a horse ranch overlooking the Pacific. He mentions this and his owning two horses that he coyote hunts with to a RW he was interested in. She writes him back and suggests he sell his horses and move to an apartment in the city (LA). Scott Jay is legit as I googled his info and read some articles about him and his ex-wife a British actress and their daughter.

I know some on this thread hate it when I mention my ex-wife but I will anyway. The ex hated the suburbs of Minneapolis. She called it "the country" and wanted to live in the inner city. I remember her pointing an accusatory finger at a large parking lot at Sam's Club and saying "What is this!? What is this!? It is the COUNTRY!!!" The people back in Russia that knew us heard about how bad she had it. When I talked them I told them about how pleasant things were here and all the conveniences and luxuries she had. They had heard a different story. Of course she was never planning in sticking around. Anyway for some RW there is the prestige factor of living in some 'well known to Russians' places in the US. Chicago, New York, Las Vegas, Florida or California are the places they want people back in Russia to know they are living at. Minnesota and Minneapolis are considered to be "SI-BEER!!" to them. I does get cold here I will admit...

Just for fun I did a little side by side comparison, Miami>Frankfurt>N. Novgorod.
When I flew to Russia for Liliya's embassy interview in summer of 2003,  2 R/T tickets = total airfare, taxes and fees:    $1659.00
When we bought the tickets for this summers trip back in March 2008,   2 R/T tickets = total airfare, taxes and fees:    $3124.39
If I were to buy those same tickets tonight (travel is still +30 days out) 2 R/T tickets = total airfare, taxes and fees:   $5694.86

Depends when you buy and how far in advance you buy. If you fly in September, you could buy 2 tickets for $3038.80 with all the fees included.

Yep, I understand, but in September School is back in session, plus she'd miss Father's/Uncle's/Grandmother's birthday and the anniversary of Mom's death, so she's pretty much locked into July visits. My point was to show the price per ticket had jumped about $1,300 in two months for seats on the same plane.

BS aside, who's the relevant judge here? Two married RW and one in search phase (Sorry if I missed someone) One married RW says he has possabilities, one married RW says he is trash and the searcher says he maybe warrents further investigation. Even money spread which gives they guy an even money shot.

As long as we counting heads, here is one more NAY to the guy from married Russian woman (can't stand those AM/RW abbreviations)   ;)  But of course, I'm speaking from my own perspective.   I'm sure this John Doe could make a perfect husband to some Jane Doe.    It all depends on her expectations.   :)

I guess RW's opinion is important.
