Note that I'm not saying some, but ALL, same as Doll.
I wish you really read what I write- I didn't say all , I was talking of the main
reason. Does it mean same? No.

As for my loving money talks- go and read RW forum on this subject where the brides still in Russia ask these very questions. And they get the answers.

True enough. However, do the RW forums attract  a certain type of woman (as these English-language RW boards attract a certain type of man)? My wife does not post in the RW forums. Her friend (the one who married the poor student), also would not likely be there as well.

Let me preface this by stating, "in my opinion only", Doll actually does make a few good points.

Listen, the main reason why RW leave their country IS economy, next is (MAYBE!) the want to have a husband. The first being economy anyway.

One can disagree with this all he wants, but, a major reason, maybe not the main reason, but a major reason many R/Ukr women will leave there country is for a better life which often means a better economical situation.

When a man goes to Zaporozhye, Ufa, Krivoy Rog, Togliatti, Lugansk, many times he is able to walk away with a model type beauty who is looking to change her economical situation.  As I have written before, only a small percentage of the ladies who say yes to our marriage proposal is actually in love with us at the time.

No, but poverty guarantees unhappy wife.

As we try to discourage blanket statements around here that are thrown about as if actual facts, with what Doll has written above, although this is not true 100% as Misha is saying, this statement is true the majority of time.

That's it folks, now back to the Cowboy game.

If that is the case, and I applaud the honesty, then it is really a sad statement.

What is even more sad Misha is the great number of men who ask a women anywhere from the first three days of their meeting up to the first eight days of their meeting if she would marry him.

How many of these men can really believe that woman fell in love with him in their first three or four days?    The answer:  A lot!   Even a sadder reality.

Getting back to the original poster's questions, I would ask the following: have you thought of going to Ukraine as a volunteer? Given that you are retired, could you spare a few months to go overseas and work as a volunteer? I am sure that there are some opportunities out there and this might give you a chance to not rush things, get to know Ukrainians (including women) without the sole goal of marriage and you would (hopefully) be doing some good.

You didn't write some RW, you didn't even write most RW, You wrote simply RW, inferrring all RW

Given the context of the OP's initial post, I'd have to say Doll has some valid points. He's 53 and retired, yet I don't get the impression that his retirement is voluntary. Is he disabled? Is he on a fixed income for the rest of his life?

Attacked? Well, we know that he should not be looking for some types of women, but that does not mean that all women are looking for husbands earning 150 grand per year.

Well, some women are more realistic in their expectations IMHO. And, getting back to Canadian, he specified that he was not looking for a young hottie. Will it be impossible to find a woman in her fifties who would be interested in sharing a comfortable retirement with a man that she loved?

It really doesn't matter how much money husband has/makes - what matters is how much he's willing to share.    ;)  Otherwise those 150K +++ may go straight to the bank and go to his kids from previous marriage, let say...

Why second guess if Canadian53 already answered to it?

I am one of those cases where you can't judge a book by its cover in that I mean when I was in the navy I weighed 175 lbs most of my career. I developed a blood disease that saw me in hospital for over 100 days in the first 8 months of the disease. I also gained weight to the tone of 275 lbs during that time. I was given a medical discharge because of it. The disease is not contagious nor can anyone get it from me. So everyone is safe.

I still don't see the correlation...   There are few Russian/Ukrainian women on this board, does it make their husbands "one-week wonders"?   Or am I missing a joke?   :-[

Interesting posts.  But guys money is important for most women.  Not the only thing.  Just like physical attractiveness is important for most guys.

Also, $150K is not that much.

Well, it was meant as being somewhat facetious, so I am glad that you understood the joke. However, as one woman noted on one of the RW Russian-language forums (I do read them from time to time), at least half of the women there moved to the United States after a brief courtship to their husbands (i.e. met him for a week or a few then went to the USA on a K-1). It is clear that such women would have a different perspective from those who knew their husbands for months or years before moving to another country. Their needs would be different, and, yes, presumably love would not be the main motivator in their decision to leave. I did learn some useful information on the RW Russian-language forums, notably how much information I could get on any individual online as to their financial well-being (or lack thereof) for $7.95 ;)

Also, $150K is not that much.

Perhaps $ 150,000 income is not that much but not too many have a higher income.   In the US, 3.17% of the population have an income of $ 150,000 - 200,000,  1.17 are $ 200,000-250,000 and 1.55 $ 250,000 or more.   That is household income so in many cases would be two people or more contributing.

Most every income is "not that much"  people struggle to get by on $ 150,00 or a million.  They just spend more to do the same thing and usually spend more than they can afford.   You hear of lots of celebrities with 7 digit incomes going bankrupt.

Personally I think money and happiness have little to do with each other as long as the level is more than enough to cover necessities.   Some of the happiest people I have know had a moderate income and some of the most miserable were rich by most standards.   I will bet Warren Buffet spends more time thinking about money than does the average Joe on the street, and probably worries more too.

Personally, I don't make $ 150,000.  I don't have any need to make $ 150,000.  I get by just fine.  I don't need a Rolls Royce, or a Rolex, or a Lear Jet.  I am quite happy with my old Pickup truck.  I can do the things that are important for me and that is all I care about.
