Thanks Olga & Dave! I guess I'm one of the WOVO kind of guys here. That is why I try to talk as much as possible first to get to know them a little better before I go and visit. I have talked to a few on the phone and sometimes you can tell alot about a person just talking on the phone. Of course it does not take the place of a visit which can tell you much more. I don't think I'll be branded a "sex tourist" I've only been over there once and I talked to her for 7 months before the visit. Probably won't wait that long again but there was a reason for that. I'm not a rich guy so really can't make a trip every month but if I think she is worth seeing I will head over to see her. Don't worry about getting the wrong name as I usually only talk with one at a time. It may not be the way everyone here does it but I feel it is only fair.

steve057,

That is my approach also. it starts out as WM but within time it is WOVO. I see no rush to get over there just to shop. I would much rather do the comparison shoping state side and then travel. For me I believe this approach will win out in the end.

and don't confuse their names  :D

Why yes.. yes... keep those names straight!    ;D   I'm the idiot who messed that up a couple of times both in email and on the phone.  Lost a couple of possibilities early in my search that way.

On the phone? Good night, you've got my sympathy...  did you bite hard on a knuckle?

Those rookie errors were committed prior to my first trip.  Live and learn.  I about bit a couple knuckles slap off.  Really they were inadvertent slips where I had been talking to one lady for a couple hours each day, then called another and habit kicked in at an inopportune moment.  When that happens, there's not really much to say about it, just pick up and move on.  Embarrassing for sure.

I do not think that the "get out of Jail free card" in Monopoly, would work on that crime Dave.  You are subject to the fury of a woman scorned, ouch!  Such punishment, makes the chair appear a much more humane option.

You would make the Wall of Shame with me, on that one.  I have been there and got some scars to prove it.  Be glad it was over the phone and email.

There are certainly worse places than in e-mails or over the phone to say the wrong woman's name.  Maybe the only thing worse is saying something like, "Wow, your breasts feel just like your sister's!"

I'm really very uncomfortable whith topics like this one. How can it be "normal" to say that all UW, RW, etc. are this, that or the other, let alone hookers? Even "UW are more beautiful than..." is not "normal".

I don't know how I could deal on an everyday basis with someone who spouts such generalized notions as a matter of fact. It's not very far from "all Jews...", "all black people", "all Mexicans...", all everything and everyone. Stupid and narrowminded. Such a person simply isn't interesting - even if one does nothing to further one's xenophobia (for that's what it is). Given some incentive and opportunity - he or she will.

I agree that 'blanket' statements are invariably inaccurate. I also agree that such black-and-white thinking is often at the root of dysfunction.

Good post.

Hey now -- I've made that mistake too... only they were my cousins (hey, this IS Georgia .. that's perfectly legal)

Diplomacy,
It's amazing how rapidly a talkative woman will go completely silent when that happens.  They just NEVER seem to miss something so trivial as calling her by another name.  Oh well. I think I have a reserved space on several walls.. Shame, Blame, Idiocy.

Funny though, the one thing they never seem to complain about is the position of the toilet seat.  Now there's a refreshing perspective..  ;D

Olga, I explained my not liking russians. And superiority complex grows from thinking that if you were conquerors you are better. But our economy professor (being russian himself) told that in spite of having 72 times more natural resource russians` quality of life is similar (not talking about Minsk, Moscow and St Pete). So who is more clever? I don`t want international fight round 2 and you are not decent competitors since you cannot say anything except of making not fact-based hints...But if you can say something, say...

Huh? So this is "normal"? Not "to like" a whole people? I don't think so...

there is a subtle difference between not liking a whole people (or region) and saying that all females in that region are tarts.
For example people in the South of the USA, where there is a history of slavery - are culturally different from the North where there was no slavery in history.
Some of my american friends from East Coast tell they don't like West Coast, and don't like people there because people in WC are too lazy. (WC defines themselves as laidback)
Some of my american friends from WC don't like EC and criticize the habits and lifestyle of people from the EC - for example by saying that EC people are too uptight. EC people say they are just efficient and have discipline.
