I want to add that now the whole territory of France is sliced in different areas shaded with different levels of crimes. 
So the rich are moving guess where, in the safest areas. 
The highest crime areas are spreading to the adjacent areas like a gangrene, 
but it never come back to the other way. 
The vast majority, that will be not a surprise, of the courts is woke.   
The penal system is overflowed and in some case couldn't answer respecting the procedural delays 
Some efforts have been made to recruit more employees in the Justice department 
but the power in general don't like too much Justice when she is going too far his own way 
The biggest guys in our country has suffered from few investigating judges in 2000's
And the trend of the metoo movement is dragging some other to the courts. 
The penal response is generally largely impeded by the philosophy of the Century of the Lumières
which means basically that there is a global empathy for the criminals
and hundreds of associations are here to prevent you to talk about the true reality of the statistics of the crimes
(while Germany is more honest with the truth).
 
A lot of crimes are simply demoted to simple offenses,
Some felonies are never reported because refused by the police forces (it includes the Gendarmerie because
we have two components: a civilian and a military one).   
Some attempts which are punished like the crime (when it is done) are not counted, in particular

for example Eastern European Jews were banned from immigrating to the UK in 1905, and to the USA in 1920 as well

80% of the penal laws, at least, last 40 years, have been in favor of the offenders and not in favor of the victims   
And now the European Union is also regulating, so these idiots have forbidden searches in jails
So a lot of drugs and telephones are now inundating the cells.   
Consequences: they are not just calling baboushkas, they can ask making pressure on witnesses, order some contracts, and continue their business.   
And thank God for the moment we didn't have case with weapons or not I am aware of.

Grunding? I remind this brand crystal clear, my father was listening to the radio on a Grunding. And a nice one. 
   
Yep, I didn't write about immigration yet but that's a big one. 
 
After WW2 we had a first peak due to the war in Algeria. French coming back and pro French Algerian (harkis) immigrated during this time to france until the peace in 1962.
   
But immigration has continued to grow since this time. More than half of this immigration is coming from South Europe (Italian,Spanish, Portugal most of the time) plus Asia. They integrate well in the society and don't create problems.The rest if coming from Africa, especially Maghreb. The problems arise with Maghrebians, especially the last young generations who are in a mid culture.   
 
For sure, as many countries, the population is older, but natality was not so bad in France. 
But of course some want a lot of immigration so the price of the workforce is low. Is the workforce wants to have low wages?
That's another question (compare to other "developped" countries in Europe our wages are quite low).

Grundig was a top brand name...like RCA in America
both of these firms ended up shutting down their own factories in their host country and moved production to china, then they moved product design and engineering to china
Grundig and RCA are now just "brand names" for marketing purposes that sell Chinese goods
this happened to industry after industry

usually when "some government" does things "not in the best interests of the people"
it's because "special interests" are influencing the government for their own gain

I know nothing of French politics, socio-economics,
in the USA, the struggle is between "the owners" and "the workers"
and this struggle determines the course of government actions

does France still have "Napoleonic Law" - guilty until proven innocent?
