Many guys would not want a wife that he can't speak to. Some guys who want a wife like that have reasons for their wife not understanding who they really are. Could be bad reasons.

There are good guys who'd be ok with a wife that speaks no or little English and will even help her learn the language and culture when she moves to her new country. How she cares about her future husband will be very important. One doesn't always need words to express love and if he feels love, he most likely will be more patient and caring in return.

Your friend should not give up and continue to find her happiness. She can get a @mail.ru account and translate emails with the guys she comminicates with. She can also use this site to cut and paste messages.
http://www.promt.ru/

Although she won't be able to speak with men, she can tell about herself and learn the goals and beliefs of the men she communicates with before deciding to meet with them.

If a guy wants to call her, she should let him call her. Some women told me they don't speak good or no English but I told them it would be pleasant just to hear their voice. I almost always get their phone number. Sometimes the lady speaks better than she judges herself. Sometimes there's just giggling when I speak but I know she's happy I called.
Fund the audits, spread the word and educate people, write your politicians and other elected officials. Stay active in the fight to save our country. Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776.

it can be done.  my dhrw and i made it work.  although i'd never claim -- just because it worked out so well for us -- that our way is the only or best way.

i should have clarified... i speak some russian, so that was a huge help.

Yes, it is very good help. But maybe it is not so as good as seems. I don't want my man to study russian cos it will hinder me to study english.

I have heard this from RW before.  So thanks for stating it here.

But, still here we often hear guys trying to convince other guys to learn some Russian.

Yes, and what happens when they finally meet and the relationship dies as most do (in days, or hours, or minutes), and the poor schmuck is left on his own, knowing nothing about the country or the language?  He can hardly phone home.

I've never suggested becoming fluent in Russian before travelling, but I really do think that any guy planning a trip should at least learn the alphabet (it's not hard, although I still occasionally think of P as P instead of R) and a few key phrases.  I know that everyone's experience is different, but in my case being able to speak ("nimnoga"  8) ) and read some Russian was definitely a help.

And Olly, why would it hinder your learning English?  Is it because you have to stop all the time to correct his terrible Russian pronunciation?  :D

Hah! neither can I...  ;D , and then sometimes when I clearly understand the words, I still don't have a clue what they're talking about...  :P   But still, nowhere near as unintelligible as the the Isles north of France...  :D

America has some incredible slang and vernacular as evidenced by this humor  ("true" according to Snopes).

A black congresswoman named Sheila Jackson Lee, of Houston  complained that the names of hurricanes are all Caucasian sounding names.  She would prefer some names that reflect African-American culture such as Chamiqua, Tanisha, Woeisha, Shaquille, and Jamal. I am NOT making this up!

She would also like the weather reports to be broadcast in 'language' that street people can understand.  The racially biased language of the weather report dodoes not properly convey the seriousness of the situation.

So a weather report in New Orleans would be as follows:

Wazzup, muthas! Hehr-i-cane Chamiqua be headin' fo' yo ass like Leroy on a crotch rocket!  Bitch be a category fo'! So, turn off dem chitlins, grab yo' chirren, leave yo crib, and head fo' de nearest FEMA office fo yo FREE shit.

In addition, there are some sweet expressions very much appreciated by RW during tender moments.  And one RW taught me krasevi and told me to call her that every morning.

Making the effort to speak just some of their language impresses them. Just the snall effort at the start. But to really learn their language is special. For many this can take some time plus a few are gifted at this - God bless them.
I just use a few expressions and she is pleased beyond words. While she has been slaving away at our convoluted language for 3 years now and is certainly improving. Patience is the key for both and as for me I struggle with that. A failing I am always working on.
And the more we are able to understand each other the better it gets. I must also keep in mind that we were lucky to find this match we have.

My advice to her would be to start practicing her English.  If she studied it in school, it'll start coming back to her the more she uses it.
Absolutely.
