We were asked if we had a joint banking account.  I was prepared and showed them a statement, which showed both our names.

I was never asked in two FSU marriages to show a joint banking account. The regulations do not require it.

There are quite a few Russian women with a business visa that is about to expire who are looking for a sponsor. I understand the going rate paid out is about 25K and can be arranged by certain immigration attorneys in Brighton Beach. They will marry any American male with a pulse.

If she uses a computer I bet from the day you married this woman she has been writing and emailing her boyfreindS in Russia and has been writing her family and friends about you and her plans

The generalizations are NOT comical - exactly how much time have you spent outsoide the US? 

I'll be the first to admit I don't see eye to eye with Ken a lot of the time but come on, most sweeping generalisations here are silly and those made by Ambach are just plain kooky. In fact, there's little that comes out of that guys keyboard that I'd consider to be rational most of the time.

His cultural generalizations re: the FSU are correct - just as a "generalization" re: physical labor is looked down on in the Middle East would be correct.

I can't comment about people in the middle east (although I know middle eastern people in Western Europe and they don't have that particular physical labour issue you mention) but I can tell you that my wife thinks Ambach is wrong in his generalisations and I'd agree with her going by what I've seen there too.
